I loaded for 60 seconds before the first pass. As I was lathering for the second pass I realized it was too thin. Same thing for the third. Don't know if I ever experienced this before!

The culprit: an otherwise fine brush, the Proraso Omega boar knot.
Yep, a problem I've encountered with both Boars and Badgers.

No issue whatsoever with Synths. Just saying.

I think in a couple of days I will have used up the Hub City Soap finally! It is a nice soap but I am ready to use something else now! Last couple of shaves were injectors, the Canadian and the Hydromagic. Great shaves and I can confirm that the Hydromagic gives a closer, longer lasting result. Both are very comfortable with no irritation.

Next week will see my beloved Slim in action, the razor that was Number One for a long, long time, until unseated by the Karve Christopher Bradley (which itself was unseated by the Overlander by the same company!). And there will also be some GEMs entering the last half of Vintage April.

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend. I know many may be celebrating, so to those, have a blessed weekend!

I've been remiss in using vintage due to pass around and loaner razors but getting onboard now to join you Eric !

Back from Chris at Back Roads Gold in its new nickel plating, my Karve Overlander!

It did a bang-up job, and I couldn't be happier!

10/10, just fantastic. As I said in the Acquistions' thread, I couldn't be more pleased. Glides so well and still feels the same as before. The only difference I feel is less drag/vacuum effect when the lather has been removed and I am touching up without rewetting or relathering. Nothing drastic, and it is an improvement from before the plating.

And being brass, it still retains heat well! I use a basin of warm to hot water most days, so as I am relathering the razor is immersed and warming up again. SS razors warm up but cool done a lot faster. Brass must have a lower heat conductivity, if I am thinking about this correctly, allowing it to retain heat longer than steel. Cast iron is really retentive, as anyone knows who burned a finger grabbing a pan that hadn't been on the stove for some time!

Love the work Chris did on this razor and am just tickled with the results and that nothing seems to have changed!
