Is it possible that you are using more strokes per pass because you are using a less aggressive razor? Those extra strokes might be enough to irritate your face.

Although I do not suffer irritation I do find myself spending more time applying more strokes when I use a more gentle instrument.

I agree with Mickey Oberman ‘s post above. Whenever I use a mild razor or blade I find myself doing more touch ups to try to achieve the desired result. It invariably ends with weepers, irritation and even nicks. I think that’s the paradox of the mild razor if you’re looking for bbs shave.

I'm of the same opinion of the 'milder' razor is giving you a false sense of security and you're adding pressure subconsciously since you're expecting the blade feel of a more aggressive razor.

I think you guys are right. With the R41 i usually do two passes and im clean.
With the mild head i did 3 and a touch up under the chin neck area.

Are you remembering to relather for buffing/touchups? Never ever go over an area without relathering is an old cardinal rule.

Yes, that is very important - whether you grab your brush and slap on another coat or just reach into your ear for some spare lather to smear on the spot you want to quickly touch up. The ears are a great spot for holding a reserve of lather as well as down low on your neck. I can't be the only one who does this.
