Tough choice Dragonsbeard but I would suggest either the CG3 or Timeless 95 as these are available, high end efficient and smooth razors. I would eliminate the Wolfie 94 as it’s a custom unavailable unicorn. Although the RS10 and Paradigm are smooth and efficient with many on the boards using them since they are no longer made and with only several hundred out in the wild it may not speak to everyone reading the thread. Similarly the Gibbs, which is a great adjustable, is not a ubiquitous vintage razor like a FB or slim. As far as the R41 or iTech they are very efficient but may not be in the same smoothness category as all those others. As always YMMV but that’s my observation.

Good luck picking among your babies on this shave-off. Perhaps Mark could use one of your neglected beauties in his comparisons.

Glad you made it back safe Mark!

That’s right you got that Jet. Yes you can do that one.

Right now I’m leaning towards the Charcoal L 3 SB or the 17 4

Gentleman here is what I have in my collection since I downsized. If you have a desire to see the Janus paired against one of these let me know. I was planning on putting it up against Charcoal Goods Level 1, 2 and 3, Razorock GC .84 and Timeless .68 & .94 SS all using the Solid bar side.
Tradere 1st gen
Wolfman WR1 .74 Ti & .94 SS
BBS1
Paradigm Ti version 1 & 2
RS10 SS and Ti
Blackbird Jet
RR GC .84
Timeless SS .68 & .95
Charcoal Goods SS lev1, Copper lev2 (both old and new version) Brass lev3
Fatboy tuned up by Cap and replated by Chris
Slim redone by Razor Emporium
Toggle tuned up by Cap
Let me know if one of these will help you in your comparisons
I also have the Cobra Classic and Blackland Vector SE's

My vote would be for the 1) Gibbs, 2) RS-10, 3) 17-4 (but I find the 17-4 and RS-10 similar). This is completely selfishly as I have these in my collection. I think the Gibbs as an adjustable is a cool comparison. However, I kind of agree that shaving against more common razors would give the best information currently and possibly help get enough interest to successfully fund the KickStarter project. Therefore the BlackBird, Game Changer 0.84, Charcoal Goods Lvl-2, and Timeless 0.68 or 0.95 would probably be best. Those are all in my collection (or in Frank's pile of razors).

If you do shave off against the CG Lvl-3 I'll just have to be sure to get a couple shaves in with that razor after it gets here Monday and before June 4th.

Good suggestions AJ

And I think I’m going with either the CG L 3 or Paradigm 17 4

Thank sir and a good suggestion but i don't have one in my den. I think I'm just going to go with the Charcoal Level 3 SB the more I think about it.

Thank You my friend.
gLet  I do not have and have never used a Rockwell Model T so I cannot be of any help with that suggestion

My two cents would be to compare it to a razor like the RS-10. The Janus will be an item that collectors would likely purchase, so a comparison to a razor like the RS-10 may be more helpful.

We’ve already tested its efficiency against the best out there, perhaps this next battle is to duke it out for rights to the throne of Smoothness.

Just a thought.
