i recently got the indogo oud from shannons saops and while it is a great performer i still feel like i need an aftershave balm post shave. Would anyone have a recommendation of a good aftershave balm to pair with this soap? i didnt see any aftershave balms on her website. thanks!

Just use an unscented balm after the splash. Her splash formula is lacking is many areas.

Shannon's Indigo Oud shaving soap is produced in her Rust Belt Reserve formula. Although the formula does not make it into my elite list of soaps based on performance, it comes pretty close. The area where it is lacking is post-shave, so I agree that using a shave balm might be advisable.

The indigo Oud has notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and oud, adds warm leather, tobacco, and ambergris, and is topped off with lively black currant and bergamot.

Zingari Man No.1 has scent notes of Top notes: Turkish Rose, Vanilla ; Heart notes: Oud, Bulgarian Rose; Base notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Amber. The scent was designed by Byron Perfumes in France, so it is quite nice.

With several similar notes, it should complement the soap. Heather Melton is a certified cosmetologist, so her balm has some skin nourishing ingredients: Ingredients: Aqua, Witch hazel extract, Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG 100 Stearate, Beef Tallow, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Avena Sativa(Oat)oil, Simmondsia Chinensis(Jojoba) oil, Glycerin, Shea butter (and) Glyceral Rosinate (and) Olive oil unsaponifiables, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl alcohol, d-panthenol, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Seed Extract, Fragrance, Propylene glycol (and) Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Allantoin, White willow extract, EDTA tetrasodium

RayClem how do you like zingari man? how would you say it performs compared to other bases?

I rate Zingari Man as a super-elite base. It provides everything I need for a great shave and the post-shave is good enough to last more than 16 hours. I have a few soaps that are even better than Zingari Man, but only a few. I just picked up a tub of Zingari Man The Master for Valentine's Day.

Although Shannon's Rust Belt Reserve soap is not quite as good as Zingari Man, the price is lower. I think both soaps are worth the price paid. Thus, if you do not emphasize post-shave feel as much as I do, Shannon's might be the better buy for you. However, if you feel the need to use a post-shave balm with Shannon's then using something like Zingari Man might be less expensive in the long run.

Everyone is different in their needs and preferences. I do not expect everyone to like the same soaps I do, but I have found that many people do like similar soaps.
