Living on the edge
It would have been sacrilege to post such a question a year ago.
But since then, a lot has happened in the DE razor market.
New entrants like Rocnel, Lambda, Blut, Karve etc have shown
that great shaves are not the franchise of just one player.
Even in terms of finish, others seem to have caught up.

What does the tribe think?

Still have zero interest in Wolfman.

The other listed makers have me intrigued, especially Blutt and Rocnel.

There are currently several Wolfman razors for sale on this site and they are slow movers not like the "old days" . It absurd to spend hundreds of dollars on a razor that shaves like most others at a fraction of the price. Its all about priority and what one can afford. A lot of vendors say it cheaper to use a DE razor then cartridge. I say BS.

Never craved one and after using one, I still didn't see the need to get one......not Judging those that like them. Just not my thing.

I posted a similar back in May. https://damnfineshave.com/thread-the-use...ht=Wolfman

One member responded, "the bloom is off the rose." At that time there were a few WR1s/WR2s languishing in the BST for an extended period compared to the 'old days.'

So I liken it to somebody who drives a Mercedes or a Porsche (Janis Joplin) because they want to, when they could get a VW at a fraction of the price.

I got my 'proceed or cancel' email a week or two ago. So I'm going for a bronze WR1 OC 0.80 with a bronze WRH1 handle, and WRA1 stand. Basic polish. I have the same razor in SB with a Darwin from my last order. I received that 'proceed or cancel' email on 4-08-22. So about 4 months to have another order begin processing.

Used to be much longer in between Google Form Orders. I'm sure it has to do with our economy here in the US, and maybe elsewhere. A definite downturn.

The big thing is James introducing the lesser finishes. Even those are quite nice, and probably a majority of buyers are going with that choice.

Look at the price of a bronze basic versus a bronze premium finish and it is nearly double the price for the latter.

This may be my last Wolfman unless he comes out with some hot new design that captures my imagination.

Different strokes for different folks, but a WR3, using Gem blades, does nothing for me.

Right now my favorite razors, besides various gaps in Wolfman, are my Muhle Ti R-41, and my Blackbird Ti. Razors that cost half the price of my WRs or less. We get what we like if we can afford it I guess.

It's easy to see this as a wolfman pile-on. Anything but.
The guy makes great razors...but he didn't seem to have much
competition earlier...he does now.

That's why I balanced my response with no judgement.....

He cannot keep interest high by selling same products over years and increasing the price often.
It became a company which is trying to sell a simple aluminum shave brush over $300.

I have had a Wolfman and it was a beautiful shaver. Top-Notch craftsmanship.
Currently, I am quite intrigued with the Wolfman SE.
