Scuttle recommendations

I run the tap to it's hottest and put that into the scuttle's outside & inside.

Nice option, in EU.

The Georgetown G20 is massive and keeps lather very warm for a very long time.  IMO the bowl shape - somewhat narrow in relation to height - is not the best for lathering, but it probably helps with heat retention.  In any case, the bowl is adequate, and if you'e a face latherer, then this is a nonissue anyway.

I have the PAA travel scuttle and the SS Naked Armor scuttle. Both work really well. Use hot tap water.

Don’t use water hotter than your tap water. You might want to warm the whole thing inside and in the bowl then refill the inside. The initial hot water in a cold ceramic scuttle cools fast but if you refill it with more hot water once it’s already heated it stays warm for a longer time. Do not use boiling water from an electric kettle. It’s too hot. It will kill the lather and ruin your brush. I speak from experience. I ruined a decent silvertip badger that way.  The bristles fell out in clumps.

I have two. A "Dirtybird 1.5" and a "Moss" Scuttle. I've 'retired' the 'Dirtbird' because the Artist has passed (RIP). 

I use an old style water heating element and a Pyrex measuring cup. Heat the water (not boiling) and place it in the lower chamber. Voila! Nice hot lather.
