Try the Stirling Soap 26mm synthetic when it becomes available again. It blows away the Satin Tip and is less than $10.00 more. It is massive and has the best synthetic knot that I have yet tried.

Definitely got my eye on one, heard great things. But I still think the satin tip is a great brush.

it'd be too floppy at its current size for face latherers, IMHO.

Too be honest I think both Satin Tips seem too floppy to me IMO and the Stirling has a much denser knot and decent backbone without being springy.

to each their own. I just think a knot with a 63mm loft is quite large for a face latherer.

I've had only one shave with my black satin tip, and let me say WOW! Softer than my super badger and almost as much backbone as my semogue Italian Barber LE boar. I think I have a new favorite brush. I believe the dimensions on the satin tip knot is around 23x52 give or take 1 mm. I exclusively face lather and IMO this brush is great for that. This is my first synthetic so I don't have other synthetics to compare FYI. Probably the best brush you can get for 15 bucks right now IMO.

for it being $15, I share the same opinion as you...can't hurt to try it when it's so cheap. if it's not for me, I'll sell it and move on.
