I went through a whole jar of razorock's soap, and what you don't realize is that even though the price is more for the SMN it will last you about five times longer...without mentioning the difference in lather, slickness and post shave feel.(12-17-2019, 11:43 PM)Batmanacci Wrote: Not even close to SMN but definitely cheaper!
Santa Maria Novella is overrated and overpriced:

Often I agree with Ruds’s reviews and I like his videos...in the case of this review...I completely disagree with the 84 he gave Santa Maria Novella.
I am also not sure about the efficacy of making a negative comment about a product, and then posting someone else’s YouTube review.
I have always enjoyed SMN, and gotten nothing but superlative shaves when using it. I especially like the residual slickness that it has always provided.
The RR dupe is pretty good stuff, but in my opinion, it does not match SMN.

A quasi-famous Youtube reviewer seems to carry more "weight" for the general public than would that of John Q. Public. Is that efficacious enough for you?
I agree with him on this one and you don't.

I've been looking at these two creams for a while and purchased one of them today. Let me say up front that my choice had nothing to do with Ruds' comments. I first heard about his video in this thread, and I had already made up my mind.
After sniffing around forums for shaver feedback, my assessment is that both creams are highly regarded by their users - well enough and consistently enough so that I think both are likely to be fine creams. I also compared my excellent experience with Italian Barber with what l could gather from poking around the Santa Maria Novella (SMN) website. My bottom line is that I am not convinced that the SMN cream is better than the Santa Maria Del Fiore (SMdF) - certainly not $51 dollars better. I could be wrong - there is plenty of room for that - and I may change my mind some day. But we all call them like we see them, and that's how I see things today.
Happy shaves everyone.

And yes, many of his so-called shave scores are way off base. You really think his reviews are objective? I got a bridge to sell you....

And you deduced this how? Did he tell you that? No one's reviews are totally objective any moreso than someone test driving a vehicle or reviewing a restaurant. We are not robots.
Why are you so angry?
Nice brush!
Curious regarding the use of shaving bowls. Does the ridged interiour deleteriously impact the knots of your expensive brushes? I use a smooth interiour Swarovski crystal bowl as much for its lacking interiour texture as its external aesthetique. Sure building lather is difficult but have the peace of mind it not destroying knots either. Anybody care to clarify and expound?
