Sandalwood Soap - does any of it smell?

Sandalwood is a classic scent in men's shaving and I see a lot of products with Sandalwood in their scent profile or the soap name. What I seem to have trouble with is finding a sandalwood scented product that smells like sandalwood or is strong enough smelling that I can actually perceive it as sandalwood. I've smelled actual sandalwood but I've yet to find a soap that smells anything like that.

Can anyone recommend a soap or aftershave that smells of actual sandalwood? I like strongly scented soap but if not strongly scented, then at it should at have least more than a subtle hint of sandalwood.

There is Sandalwood and there is Sandalwood. Much of what you see is the perfume type, like TOBS. Stuff lIke AOS Sandalwood is a weak perfume type too. You might be thinking of Mysore Sandalwood.

Proraso Red, QCS Mysore Sandalwood (out of business), and C&E Indian Sandalwood might be what you are looking for. CF Cedarwood & Sandalwood is strong to but its maybe 50/50.

Poraso RED smells pretty close to the Pure Mysore (and other Indian-subcontinent sandalwood). AoS is nice but cologne like. TOBS - hmm I call it the 'well done steak' of sandalwood.

Soap Commander Commitment (Indian Sandalwood) smells good. I can't tell you if it smells like real sandalwood, but it does have decent strength. It doesn't smell anything like TOBS either.

I love sandalwood, but have decided I won't find it in shaving soap. I reserve my sandalwood fix for my Mysore Sandal bath soap.

Proraso Red comes close for me. I have sandalwood soap that has a true Mysore scent and Proraso is close.
