The Janus Razor newsletters do a good job of describing the enginering issues. Soon we will hear about the Janus manufacturing issues (or hopefully lack of manufacturing issues). Quick guess that Rockwell underestimated the complexity and need for really good local engineers and machine shops.

I debated cancelling numerous times - now hoping for my first 2019 shaving product. Rockwell is an excellent compay and hope they do well with the Model T.

I don’t know about calling them an excellent company as some would ascertain and have even stated here that they are. At best, imo I would say they are marginal.

Here is just another update on the progression of their Model T razors concerning assembly and potential delivery. Looks like also they’ve been assembling some of these razors in their home garage or basement. At least it seems that way by looking at some of the pic’s......

January 2019 Update - Brushed Chrome & Shipping
Dear Backers,
Happy 2019! In this update, we are excited to share with you images of the Model T in all three finishes, as well as bring you some updates on our manufacturing and delivery progress (Estimated ship date for Indiegogo backers is late February / early March!).

The final Brushed Chrome razors are here! As you can see, they look absolutely incredible.

Manufacturing Process
Since late November, we have been focused on scaling up mass assembly of the razors and would like to give you some insight into our process.
We can now confirm that we have received all of the parts necessary to fulfill all existing pledge rewards for all three finishes.
Although we have been assembling and shipping White Chrome for the last six months, it was at a much smaller batch production scale. Even after fulfilling White Chrome pre-orders over the last few months, we still have approximately 8,000 Model T razors that we are working to fulfill between the Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and getrockwell.com pre-orders. Since switching to the one-piece T-Bar, we have been working on scaling up our assembly team to work through these 8,000 sets while maintaining our stringent quality standards. There are 20 individual components that go into the assembly of any individual Model T. That’s 160,000 individual parts that all need to be carefully quality-checked and sub-assembled, using many custom made quality control gauges and hard tools we’ve developed.
Given the large number of parts and razors that our assembly team is dealing with, we don’t assemble one complete razor at a time. Instead, we complete the sub-assemblies first before moving to the final assembly stage. The vast majority of our time has been focused on quality checking and sub-assembly. We do this in order to ensure the highest quality and keep our relatively small team focused on one major task at a time.

Left, Center Photo: Quality check on T-Bar with doors to with a custom made gauge to confirm the height is in tolerance. As mentioned in previous updates, these are just two of many critical dimension checks that are necessary to ensure that every aspect of the razor meets tolerances. Right Photo: Quality check of Safety Bar with hard tool to confirm dimensions are in within tolerance.
There are three major sub-assemblies: the adjustment dial, the one-piece T-bar and doors, and the TTO. This week, we will be completing all three major sub-assemblies for all 8,000 razors - which is a major milestone!

Photo of these three sub-assemblies
In the last couple of weeks, two of our core team members shifted from these subassemblies to completing final assembly of the razor — which is why you have begun to see Gunmetal Model T razors being fulfilled in these last few weeks. Now, we are shifting the remaining members of our team from subassembly to final assembly, allowing us to scale up the manufacturing process for all razors and fulfill in larger batches.
Based on reallocating the majority of our team to these final assembly steps, we are on track to complete all final assemblies and quality check steps in February, for all finishes.
Shipping
We are fulfilling roughly in order of backer number / pledge date as per our ability to fill. As you know, our assembly facility is based in Canada. However, in order to ship cost effectively around the world, we use a shipping / fulfillment center based near Chicago. So all razors must be first packed in Canada and shipped to our fulfillment center in Chicago. The only exception to this is Canadian orders, which get filled directly via Canada Post, which is why you may notice Canadian backers receiving their pledge rewards slightly earlier.
Upcoming Shipping Confirmation
Important: As we begin fulfilling these razors, we will be sending out an email form to all backers to confirm your shipping details. Please be on the lookout in February & early March for this form. Please note that if you do not respond to the form, your order will not be shipped out - this is to confirm we are shipping your Model T to the correct address - an extremely important step as the number of Model T razors available is extremely limited. You will receive an email notification 48 hours before your Model T ships out, as well as a tracking link once it has shipped out.
We want to thank all our backers for your commendable patience and encouraging words. As you may have noticed from the recent reviews from early bird backers who have received their rewards, the feedback has been overwhelming positive and we’re extremely confident that you will be thrilled with your pledge.
Sincerely,
The Rockwell Razors Team[/img][/img]

Not so sure about that one as I have been reading about all kinds of QC issues with their flagship razor the 6C/S etc. They need to get their sheet together and fast.

Wow! If that’s the case they’re done. They should’ve nixed the T before it sinks the whole ship.

I don’t get it sometimes. I have a crusader from Vikings blade and it’s wonderful and they were able to put out a razor. I guess stainless steel is that much harder.

That's what I was worried about for them.

What ever little reviews are out there for the model T, the latest YouTube reviews are positive. Don Youngner have one last August. That seems to be the latest.

I have read one review - negative and mainly on size. I understand some positive reviews. With the exception of my Pils, I prefer 85-90m and 90 grams or less (think titanium). I do have some concerns over the length and possibly head size (from looking at pictures - not actual experience).

Guessing like some other things that cannot be mentioned here, 49.5% will like it, 49.5% will not like it and 1% will think ok.

The head size from the pictures seems to be a concern for me as I prefer slim heads like the Rex or slim adjustable.
