I find setting 6.5 to be perfect IMO. I don't feel like the Rex Ambassador is too harsh on the max setting.

Not sure why, but I decided to pop a Feather in tonight and had a skin friendly BBS.   I think there may be a new sheriff in town.

Hell of a shave today with the Rex. And with the WSP Olympus bringing in the suds, can you “Say Whuuuut?? A superb start with a shave that was blissfully smooth. B-cue time with a couple of frosty ones....

I have been using the Rex for my head shaves, every day, since receiving it, almost two weeks ago, and I am finding it to be a superb razor, outstanding, actually and a very versatile razor.
I am really glad I went in on the group buy as it is well worth the money.

I agree, a $180 not feeling wasted at all I do too enjoy the razor.

There was no blood, but some slight razor burn when I woke up lol.  The shave felt great at the time though.

Now what made you decide to use setting six! AND why shave at 2:30 AM?

Six has been fine for me other than that night, and to the bold. Because it was sitting out on the counter I guess?

Well, this is one of those situations where when you were young, your mother tells you not to touch the burners on the stove, and so when she's not looking, you touch the burner on the stove.

Having read EFDan PSA, tonight after coming back from a nice dinner among friends, I come home to take a bath and see my REX sitting on the counter. I load it up, turn the dial to 6 and did a comfortable two pass DFS. I could have gotten a three pass BBS, but did not push it. I never went higher than 3.5 prior to this, and I always dialed it down after the first pass (which I did not do this time). No blood, no razor burns! Next time I call Uber for a 2:15 AM pickup. ;-)

That was my only bad experience with it lol. Every other one has been great. Glad it worked out for you, but I want to hear about your 2:15 uber experience after a five course dinner/whisky tasting. Tongue

Combination shave today...started the shave with the straight razor and finished it off with the Rex.

Hi,
I've owned the Rex (N issue) since mid May. When I first used it I struggled a lot of drag and my face felt rough and tender in places.

After much experimentation I'm starting to getting  consistently good shaves

*(I don't shave on a daily basis, never could. Plus I used other razors, including various on loan. So it's taken me longer than it really should TBH)*

I found shorter strokes, riding more towards the safety bar and very light pressure helps with the drag issue. I don't get any irritation or roughness too.

Settings are usually 3/3/3 and 2.5 for touch-ups. Blades I've found which work best are Gillette Platinum (dark blue packet) and Polsilver.

Cheers
Rob
