PAA is certainly one of thee premier artisan soap makers of today with some of the most unique soaps on the market. PAA has even lent a hand in collaborated with other artisans (RazoRock) to come up with unique scents such as “Beach” but for this article we will be reviewing CLUBGUY.

Clubguy comes in a tin instead of a screw on lid it has this plastic strip that wraps around the circumference seam keeping it nice and tight.  I happen to have the 3.5oz tin in fact all the soaps I have from PAA are that size. The only reason for this is I couldn’t find any samples to purchase. This leaves me with spending $10.95 for the smaller 3.5oz, which I might not even like. Sadly this limits me from ordering more freely. The 3.5oz tin still has an ample opening for you to load your brush. The labels on most tins tell a story. I didn’t know this at first but you have to look real carefully for the joke or message. The CaD soap for instance is short for cease and desist, but that’s a whole other story.

Some say that this smells like Clubman even the website kind of hints to it but in my own opinion not so. I think it has a wonderful scent all on it’s own.  Yes it sort of has that essence of Clubman about it but different enough to say it could stand on its own without the connection. It makes me want to buy the Club Guy tonic because after I shave I wouldn’t want to muddle the sent with something different. The strength of the scent on a scale of 1-10 would be a 5 to 6.  During shaving it does get stronger. For the lack of notes here I will include the list of ingredients: Saponified Stearic Acid, Aqua (Water), Saponified Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Saponified Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Saponified Garcinia Indica (Kokum) Seed Butter, Sodium Lactate, Glycerin, Fragrance (Essential Oils and/or Fragrance

There’s a saying in the wet shaving community “load it like you hate it” but I had no reason to do this as it started to lather instantly and it was abundant.  I even use my Plisson, which really refrained me from pressing hard into the tin. As I began to shave you will notice how rich and creamy the lather is with plenty of slickness and cushion right to the end.

So I had a wonderful shave with ClubGuy but if I wanted to try say Cavendish, Beach and Amber it would cost me $33.00. So here is my wish Douglas allow your customers to purchase samples packs please.

I wish he would, but it will never happen. Too much of a hassle from what I have read.

He expressed his dislike for my suggestion. I had some loyal people think about it and he put a stop to that kind of thinking right away. I think it was a Money issue I'm sure if he could do it he would,
