Hello DFS ! I recently purchased a Mojo handle from a forum member and now looking for a knot to fit the handle.

I have a grizzly bay V25 fanchurian knot and a mojo maker knot in my mind. I have not used either before and hence seeking inputs from you folks .

Grizzly bay , saw dust creations and C&H I guess use the same knots incase it helps someone to share their experience .

Thanks in advance .

Finding a good aftermarket knot and the perfect loft can be quite tedious. Personally I would just send the handle to Declaration Grooming for a hand-tied B18. His knots are still among the best, always a good balance of backbone, density and flow through.

I must say the unanimous support for Long Shaving also has me intrigued. The linked thread is nice, but it contains just photos. Nowhere on the internet can I find any info regarding the properties of the knots, in particular reserve VI. Does it have gelled tips, or a more natural feel?

It looks like  more gelled than natural I think.

From a recent chat with Allen, here was his description of his current batches:

- Reserve VI - Medium backbone with natural feeling tips that do not gel, has scrub
- Reserve VII - Medium backbone with a dark banding and gelled tips, very little to no scrub

Although when discussing more it seemed he felt Reserve VI backbone was on the lower end, so maybe low-medium backbone is a safer expectation. Haven’t tried it myself though, maybe someone that has could chime in

This was very helpful, thanks! (Not that I need more brushes, but it can't hurt to look, right?!)
