I looked back a few years worth of posts and didnt see anything.

I am curious if anyone would like to share your preshave routine. I have noticed that when I get a good exfoliation from a hot shower I tend to have a much better shave experience. And as expected, when I have little or no preshave prep I experience significantly more tugging and overall a unsatisfying shave.

I do not use any preshave products but I would like to maybe give 1 or 2 a try.

So please share your routine, recommendations and general tips for your preshave to have the overall best shaving experience.

Thanks!

Find shower doesn’t work well as skin becomes too susceptible to cuts. Then again my skin extremely damaged and face disfigured from a life poorly lived.

Wash face with phisoDerm
Leave face damp
Apply Grooming Dept Preshave
Apply soap for 5 minutes
WTG pass
Rinse

I shave every day, immediately after my daily shower. I don’t dry my face after the shower, but immediately apply Grooming Dept Pre-Shave. Then I create a lather and go at it.

Do you take a hot shower? I normally use hot water and a towel on my face immediately after my shower. It tends to work really well if I am patient and let it rest long enough.

Yes, I take a hot shower. I’m somewhat ashamed to admit I never wash my face in the shower, though I always make sure plenty of shampoo suds run across my face. With my daily routine, my forehead is the only part of my face that misses out on soap-cleaning.

Yes, it has been covered before, but those particular threads are hard to find.

Personally, I think pre-shave routine is more important than the shaving soap/cream  or blade selected!! What is important about it is what you use to wash your face with before you lather. Plain water or old bar soap are not the best choices and using those handicaps the shave greatly. You need a surfactant or scrub that removes the sebum and dirt from your face to "pave" the road so to speak. I like a modern gel complexion cleanser as those work better IMO. YMMV.

Ya I figured it has been posted before. Thanks for the reply though. Do you have any examples of products that you like?

Mine is quite simple; splash face with water, apply soap via shave stick, face-lather with brush. Smile
