Most of the time, the only post shave product I use is plain Dickinson's Witch Hazel. I use soaps that have ingredients that provide an excellent post shave experience for many hours after the shave.

I used to shave every day. However, since COVID, I have cut back to shaving every 2-3 days as I do not go out in public as often as I did pre-COVID. Even if I use a soap whose post-shave lasts a full 24 hours as a few do, I still need something to apply to my face on those days I do not shave, especially when the weather is cold and dry.

My skin is sensitive, so I cannot tolerate splashes containing high levels of alcohol. Anything with menthol or synthetic coolants is also ruled out. I know many shavers like to "feel the burn" after applying a aftershave product, but that is a most unpleasant experience for me. There are some alcohol-free splashes/toners, but I have not used any.

I have used Nivea Sensitive Soothing Post Shave Balm and it is a decent product. I am just starting to explore higher quality balms, skin serums, hydrating gels, etc. to see which work best for me. Many of the artisans who produce wonderful shaving soaps also produce skin care products to accompany them. Since I am just getting started in this evaluation process, I have not yet developed the procedure by which I will evaluate and compare various products.

I do the same thing most days. ZM and Stirling both make an unscented balm.
