At work the other day, I mentioned traditional shaving to an intern working with me that day. I had just received my Gillette Super-Speed back from Jay at Delta Echo Razor Works and was really enjoying the look of the reborn razor and the shave experience. The intern is a young 20s guy, sporting the almost required for all males of that age 3 day growth. I probably wormed the topic to shaving with soap, brush, and DE by mentioning how having to wear a collared shirt and tie would make my neck irritated if I had even one day's stubble to contend with (clever, huh?!)
As the young man will be a graduate pharmacist next month, and starting a residency with the Veterans Administration system, he knew he'd be expected to dress professionally. I showed off a picture of my "steampunk" Super-Speed, and we were off! Turns out he doesn't care for the stubble, and dislikes cartridge shaving. He asked all sorts of questions, and I gave him several websites to check out both products and for info (this forum was mentioned, of course!). So who knows, maybe this young man will check out some stuff and try his hand at it.
I felt morally obligated to tell him to beware of the various acquisition disorders, and that it really is inexpensive if you stick with one brush and razor, and sample some blades and soaps. I should listen to that advise! The females just looked at us like we were off our rockers, but so what?! I had a good time showing him some stuff and talking about the benefits to my skin and attitude towards shaving.
