Some of the most beautiful razors are in polished brass IMO. Wolfman Blackland, Timeless, Karve, etc. I had a Karve that I parted with and have since regretted it. A gentleman in another group gave me a deal that was too good pass up and I received yesterday.

I'm not a professional at this by any means so I'm using my newly obtained Karve as the guinea pig. I set to work on it this morning and still have some more work to do but overall I'm loving how it's turning out. The base plate needing most of the work due to all the nook's and crannies. My wheels are about end of life so have to buy some new ones to finish it up. I do have another top cap and baseplate on the way that I plan to polish and force a patina on for my Rod George handle which I will share once complete. Can't beat shiny goodness!  Big Grin

Wow, Freddiep318ti, that brass looks so shiny on my phone that I thought you were showing us a SS razor!

Lol yeah there were times when I was polishing the top cap and the light hit right that it felt like I had removed a brass plating or something.

Stunning work Freddie!

So, is it treated with anything? Will it go back to the normal color over time?

I'm naive about these things, having never done any real polishing. I have a backup Overlander, though, and this might be an alternate option instead of replating it (like I did with my first)... If it lasts, that is.

Thanks for sharing. Again, what a great job!

Thanks! It's not treated or anything. From factory it's a machine finish and has the dull look. I used a polishing wheel and compounds and removed the machined look, smoothing and giving it a high polish. If I occasionally polish with Flitz or Brasso it will remain as is but if not it will still form a patina and have that aged brass look. I actually have a separate Karve head that I've polished but currently doing a forced patina on to help it match a different handle I have.
