Does anyone here use Plisson brushes? I am thinking of buying one of the large Plisson brushes and am wondering what users think about the brush. Is it too soft or just perfect? Is it worth the money or are there better quality brushes out there? Any thoughts or experience would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Which large Plisson brushes? And if so, which dealers are you considering?

Thinking of the Plisson 20 HMW. Directly from Plisson in France. Just wondering if it is worth the price.

If I was to be honest, I would say research more before buying. Don't overpay for mystique, but feel free to keep posting and soon you'll be able to use the private message feature here on DFS. I would like you to read through some of the comments in this thread:

100% agree. There are quite a few contemporary brush makers that make brushes that are (in my opinion) superior to Plisson brushes and some times are twice cheaper and are readily available or made to order. To name a few: Paladin, Declaration Grooming, The Varlet (this one is on the expensive side), Mozingo.

Thanks for the responses. I have read in quite a few places that the modern Plissons are not the same quality as they used to be. On the other hand, trying to buy a large size (30mm knot dia) Paladin, DG or Mozingo is not really easy. They're generally sold out or you have to go through some gyrations of signing up on some specific date etc. etc. so I gave up on that idea. Seems like a 30mm brush is not very common. I do have a 32mm Thater that I truly enjoy and just wanted to add to my collection. Just curious about the Plisson but it seems from what I'm reading that it is unnecessarily overpriced.

Shavemac offers custom orders and you can easily get a 30mm + knot of your choice of the different grades of hair.
Simpsons' Chubby 3 Manchurian knots would also be a very good option, although they are more expensive than Shavemacs.
As stated above, you, more than likely, will be paying for Plisson's brand name instead of the quality of the knot.
However, that decision would be yours to make.
Good luck.

IMHO the brushes that you buy these days from Plisson have knots that in nothing compare to the vintage ones, if you're looking for soft tips you will be disappointed.
