This morning, on Pi day (3/14), I remembered this really interesting article from 1992 in the New Yorker.

I have to wonder how small their computer would be today, and how little "juice" it would take to run it?

I stopped reading about halfway through. Pretty interesting. I'll pick up and finish it later. Hopefully tomorrow. I didn't understand much of it but it's nice to read something truly fascinating like this.

You use Fortran for that?

I admit I didn't read to the end . It was just to long winded for me.

Fascinating article. I could feel the sweat running down my back as I watched the gentlemen work with their computer. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful piece -- I remember reading it in the magazine. Happily, since that article came out, Gregory and David Chudnovsky have found an academic home at NYU.
