Personna Israeli Made Platinums - at US Supplier

Gentleman - based off of his packaging these appear to be correct.

This is the 10 pack packaging that was used in Europe for the famous “Israeli Reds”.  Current market prices command more than a dollar a blade, here they are 30 cents.

The packaging...sure, but what about the blade inside?

Some people love them… some don’t find them as good.   They are not as sharp as Nacet or Gillette 7 o’clock black (Ninjas) but in some razors they are phenomenal.

dtownvino Thanks for the info Mike!  I have been trying German made Personna Red blades in the Oliblade the past few days.  I actually like the blade a lot in that razor.  If the Israeli made platinums have any potential to offer even a better experience, I am definitely going to order some.

Hi David, I find them similar to the German Personna Platinums.  They are maybe a tad smoother but maybe a pinch less sharp.  They are my favorite blade - I have quite a few.

When I did my blade evaluations, I intended to post an evaluation of the Personna Platinum Chrome (Israeli Reds), but decided not to do so at the time. Obtaining authentic Israeli Reds was difficult. I guess Groomatorium. com found a stash somewhere.

I always considered Israeli Reds to be one of my favorite blades. They are neither the sharpest, nor the smoothest, but they are great blades in many razors.

On those occasions when I compared the Israeli made blades to the Personna Platinums made in Germany and sold in gold packaging, I found the blades to be essentially identical. Thus, I would never pay a premium for the Israeli made blades. In this situation, paying $2.98 for a 10 pack is reasonable. That is similar to the pricing of the German-made blades.

Marketing practices for Personna blades can be a bit deceptive, so buyer beware.

On eBay you will pay a small fortune for 5 or close to $75 for 100 when they do come up from a reliable reseller who knows what they have.

I have both the red and blue/white packaging as they are amongst my favorite blades, so I know exactly how they perform for me personally. I tried the German made ones and found them to be a notch sharper but also a notch less smooth. They are very similar, but not fully the same as the Israeli made. I never bothered to add them to my stash.
