I was wondering if members would post on what payment method they use for online purchases and sales particularly in the BST context?  I don’t know how others feel but I was not impressed with PayPal’s recent policy changes not changes. If you use an alternative payment method other than PP, what is it and what are the pros and cons in your experience?  I live a sheltered life and I’m curious what options are out there in the ever evolving (?) landscape?

Thanks

This policy change is indeed troubling. Right now, Paypal has a quasi monopoly when it comes to BST transactions. Unfortunately, Venmo is owned by Paypal, so that let's that out.
I would happily send and receive money via Zelle, but that's Chase propriety.
We could always go back to mailing checks...

Thank you.  Monopolies are always a problem unless you're the monopolist.  This is what I was afraid of but I thought Id ask and see what people who are active on the BSTs might be doing.  I went ahead and closed my PP account so I'm paying with credit card on vendor sites and I guess I'm frozen out of BSTs and any other entirely PP dependant commerce.  I figured that would be the case and I'm OK with it.

Marko What are the recent policy changes? (I tried googling it, but must not be seeing it).

Check this out

Basically they announced a change to Terms of Use whereby they would fine users $2,500 for posting "misinformation" - cue outcry and they reveresed a day or so later.

BTW - that link was the first one on topic that popped up when I searched "paypal debacle" and I make no representations whatsoever abut the site and have no connection.

So if they reversed the decision and admitted it was a mistake, why would you have concerns with using PayPal moving forward?

It doesn’t seem like this “policy” (whether they pulled it back or not) has any impact on actual payment processing right?

It does not impact payment processing. It only impacts an individual if the guy with the button decides you speak with forked tongue anywhere on the internet. Only you can decide if that is acceptable to you. It does not sit well with Mr. Marco. Mr. Marco either has aforementioned forked tongue....or he is tired of multinational corporations deciding for him what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior (speech in this case) and then having the power to unilaterally ding his bank account to the tune of $2500 per instance.

That is my rudimentary understanding.
