I am unaffiliated with Pasteur, I don't get compensated by the store, so let's get that out of the way. I'm just an adoring, grateful customer.

For those who don't know, Pasteur Pharmacy is to wet shavers as Toys R Us is to anyone under 10. The owners are great guys who make an effort to keep abreast of the latest products from artisans and the big boys, and the trend lately has been to fill the shelves with artisans' products--you can get Soap Commander, Reef Point, Ginger's Garden, Shave Heaven, Soapy Bathman, PAA, Barrister & Mann and on and on as well as the classics like DR Harris, Tabac, Floid, etc. The store has two locations. Both are smallish so shelf space is at a premium but the products are arranged beautifully. I stopped in yesterday and was able to sniff a few new Barrister & Mann soaps, as well as a few Floid aftershaves, etc. They make sure samples are available. Left with what I went for--a bottle of Soap Commander balm.

Will be in the neighborhood again next week, and am looking forward to it.

If you live here or if you're planning to visit, stop in and browse. It's a small business with a heart and soul.

I could not agree more. I basically go there about once a week because I am addicted to this store. Leon and the boys are wonderful to deal with and the selection is as good as it gets as well as the prices which are sometimes better than the online venders. They have basically everything and I get just about all of my stuff from them. I live in Central New Jersey and do not mind taking the train there. I have to be honest, if I lived near there, I would probably be completely broke. I am glad that I live far enough away so that I can limit my visits to Shaving's Candyland!

next time I visit New York (hopefully in 2016), I'd like to stop by Pasteur.

If you are visiting the Empire State building , the best stocked Pasteurs is the one on East 34th street. That is the one that is 2 blocks from The Empire State building ( 5 to 10 mins walk ). It's an absolute treat, they have everything you could imagine. The aisles are a bit snug so be careful not to knock stuff off the shelves!

Yes, I agree! Hope to see you there.

34th Street between Park and Madison, closer to Park, the north side of the street. That's my favorite of the two. The other one, though, also great, is on Lexington Avenue and 62nd.

Thanks gents, I'll be staying not far from the Empire State building so the one on East 34th looks favourite. One would assume I will need to show some restraint from what I have heard!!!

From the looks of it there is even more choice from when I was there in January, the phrase " kid in a candy shop " comes to mind. Enjoy.
