Paradigm Titanium safety razor

I'm not sure what the fuss about titanium is all about. Sure, I like the word, its cool sounding and futuristic and all that but as far as advantages for safety razors is concerned I'm not sure there really are any. As I recall back in the 70s when I was involved in mountaineering titanium ice axes were the ultimate climbing tool. That was because titanium had a higher strength to weight ratio compare to the cheaper steel axes that we could easily afford. Strength and weight were important considerations in mountaineering when you had to carry all your gear on your back and your life depended on the tool doing its job without fail. I just don't see a parallel when it comes to safety razors. Perhaps someone more knowledgable in metallurgy can explain to me the advantages of titanium over the commonly used alternative safety razor metals. Further, I assume that there must be grades of titanium in the same way that there are grades of steel and aluminium. Are these razors being made of pure 100% titanium? Can titanium be alloyed with other metals and if so, how much titanium is required before it can be called titanium? Is there any legal control over what I call a particular metal? For example can I alloy 1% titanium with steel and call it titanium? Does it have to have any titanium in it? How does one test for titanium? So many questions. Although I enjoy saying the word titanium, I don't have to spend anything in order to indulge this pleasure.

Unfortunately this is clearly just a cash grab.

The vendor cut a deal with the manufacturer to be the exclusive distributor thus, most likely, doubling the cost of the razor. It would have been in the $200 range.

Teiste helped start that vendor owned forum in 2012 where this razor will be the greatest ever but never mentioned the price in his opening post which is odd or obvious, nor the advantage of titanium, which is none.

Anything over $200 is just a squeeze for profit and $400 is just silly.

I didn't mention price because I didn't pay for this razor and this is a proto.

Greatest razor ? Who have said that ? I said that shaves excellent and then , "so far , so great" , meaning that I like it but I compared it with a Seygus (and Rocnel and ATT , in this case , the M2) which are all cheaper (much cheaper) to this one.

The only valid point I see in your debate (and Marko one) is about being made of Titanium.If RazoRock releases Titanium made razors for 100 dollars , that would be excellent for the wet shaving community.

Don't see conspiracies everywhere , guys : will help you to enjoy this hobby better.

To think that a 400 dollars razor shaves better or a 400 dollars brush creates better lather is simply non realistic , but aren't we lucky we can choose to buy a OneBlade , Wolfman Titanium or Paradigm razor these days or buy a RazoRock and enjoy great shaves too ? 7 years ago that was basically imposible.There wasn't so much were to choose , (vintage Gillette , Shick , Edwin Jagger , Muhle and a couple more choices).And I have seen regular non used Gillette Fatboys being sold in forums for over 300 bucks back at the time.

I made every review with the thought that could help for you and the other fellow wet shavers , to know if the article is going to be what you're looking for , or avoid it and go for something better suited for you.

I think $400 is a lot for a razor -- especially a new, unproven one -- but, to me, it really doesn't seem so out of line with some other razors around at this point. Don't some titanium razors cost more? Aren't Wolfman razors this much and more?

I'm looking forward to buying the Razorock titanium but I'd bet it's going to be nearly impossible to get. And, like at least some of Razorock's other razors, people will pay hugely inflated prices on EBay. Maybe the Paradigm will be more readily available. Something else I'd bet: people will buy the Paradigm despite the price.

That's a very bold accusation.That you might have some problems with a vendor or some other forum is not my problem.Its yours.I just post about stuff that I use and will keep doing it , whether you like it or not
