Overrated Shaving Stuff

Most soap over $20. It may smell nice, have cool artwork, or be limited edition but mainly those soaps fall under the nice but not necessary category. And yes, I still buy them from time anyway.

Overrated stuff (for me)

Timeless 95
Charcoal Goods (L2 and 3)
Blackbird
Simpson Manchurian Badger
Declaration B7 hair
Some soaps have been disappointing but a $12 -$15 soap has every right to disappoint.

For me, Sebum products are extremely overpriced.

Just my opinion on the performance and overall quality.

Understand from experts that the door alignment critical to these Gillette TTO. Is it possible they weren’t perfectly aligned? Personally never had a good shave with any classic Gillette TTO but, to be fair, never had a properly restored razor

When they have what is called lazy door(s), the blade will chatter which makes it aggressive and not in a good way. If the blade is evenly aligned and the doors are tight then a butterfly style open and close razor should work as it was designed for vintage aka Gillette Super Speed razors or Schick DE razors and for modern like Weishi or Bali razors as an example. If all is good and you aren't getting the desired results then try a sharper blade like a Feather before writing off the razor as an underperformer.

Ok, and I have one! And i really like it. Doesn't shave any better than my merkur 34c though.

Workmanship is spectacular - a real thing of beauty to be admired.

However, there is not a linear correlation to shave quality and price. [or a non-linear correlation to shave quality and product price].

I treasure mine, but not due to some perceived shave quality aspect.

Don't crucify me - just be aware there is a solid chance you will ask yourself was it worth it. Shave art/sculpture to be appreciated no doubt - and it may be the holy grail razor you seek. It was worth the chance for me, but my lust for the wolf has been satiated.

Exactly this. I've owned several (including a BBS-1) and NONE of them gave a shave quality worthy of the price tag. Sure, the machining and workmanship is the absolute best in the business, but I get a better shave from a $50 razor (purely subjective I know). I sold all of my Wolfman razors for exactly this reason.
