I'm not in love with the performance of SV compared to many of my soaps

That's about the complete opposite as one can get in performance opinions. I only owned one, Cosmos. I find it a weak cologne scent as well, a light coffee.

Performance was significantly lacking in comparison to its pricing peers. Coming in a ~$7/oz, this is expensive stuff in the price range of LPL, Klar, XPEC, and almost up to PC Nuavia price. And, IMO, there is no way I see performance on par with its similarly priced competitors. YMMV, of course.

My experience as well. Good but not great and if you factor in the cost, much better options out there. YMMV of course and all that and certainly something to try if you have not yet.

I'm also with grim and Kevin on this. While the performance is good, I have many better performers that cost half or less than SV.

And cost is why I brought this up. If it cost the usual $3 or $4/oz, I would have wrote it off as one of the pack. At $7, it has a lot to live up to and I it did not meet my expectations of a $7/oz soap.

Yeah, it does have a high cost per oz., but I will say that it will probably outlast a lot of the other soaps in that price range because it is a hard puck as opposed to a croap like Nuavia, etc. One would most likely get more uses out of it.

You would think this to be the case since SV is a hard soap. I find that to get the type of performance I'd like out of SV I load the absolute living daylights out of the puck. My felce aromatica has gotten very slim due to this. Perhaps I'm wasting it?

I don't want to poop on the SV party here but I will take responsibility for making the jab at it which caused many to agree about performance. In my opinion there is much better or equal out there for cheaper. Stirling, Reef Point, CRSW, WSP Tallow and Barrister and Mann (including the Latha line) all outperform Saponoficio Varesino at a fraction of the price for me. Just my opinion. SV is right on line with Soap Commander as far as performance if you wanted to compare veggie to veggie and Soap Commander is 2.50 an ounce.

I only have two, 70th and Cosmo. Both are not light scents..

Water has a lot to do with it.

I have Cosmo... It might be the best post shave feel in my den imo.

I don't see how you guys aren't getting great performance from SV soaps.  The scents, sure - they don't last nearly as long as I'd like but they're quite strong for a while.

I'd like to know what you guys find to be better?  I have Klar, have tried XPEC to name a couple and it's easily just as good if not better.  SCShaver mentions "Stirling, Reef Point, CRSW, WSP Tallow and Barrister and Mann (including the Latha line)..."  I've tried most of those, and have extensive amounts of CRSW and B&M and I find that SV still holds an edge. Latha does not compare.  Sure, price is a factor - but SV is triple milled and lasts a long, long time.  I load it like any other soap (25-30s).
