Hello all,
I have recently acquired a Genesis razor today; via trade from Wet Shaving Enablers Buy, Sell, & Trade group on Facebook.
I just had my first shave with it and I am amazed at the differences between the two. The razor was much more efficient and smoother then the Core v2. And let me preface this by saying that the word smooth at any level is hard to achieve on my neck.
My neck consist of major swirls and micro bumps that a razor can easily get snagged on; leading to a great deal of frustration. The Oneblade Genesis is the first razor I've experienced that could not only give a BBS shave without irritation but could also do so with no snagging at any point.
I had a somewhat similar experience when using the Core v2 but it was much less inefficient and snagged quite a bit; which I do not attribute to possible issues with the feather blade as I cork all my blades upon their first use.
This lead to me wonder why there is such a different between the two- minus the obvious weight difference; which I believe is somewhat offset-ted considering one can apply much more blade pressure to the Core as opposed to the Genesis. I even went to the extreme of applying similar pressure with the Genesis just to see what would happen; as to not ruin my original findings I did so after I finished my initial shave. The result of the experiment was a ton of nicks and weepers. Which was surprising considering I could of hired a macho man to shave me with as much force as possible using the Core v2 and probably not even get a BBS shave. This had me even more curious at what would cause such a dramatic difference between the two.
So I fired up my Samsung S8 camera, set it to 4k picture mode, took two photo, and did some comparison that you can see using the link below.

Since it is impossible to get identical images I used the length of the blade to approximate measurements between the two razor. What is interesting is that the two blades share similar bottom guard length but with the Genesis you could see more of the blade past the upper guard; measuring about 13% more. This isn't an end all be all comparison as I lack the tools to do a defined comparison between the razors balance point, angle of the blade, and the action of the pivot all of which would have a major effect on how the blade shaves.
I just though this would be an interesting topic for those who wanted to see maybe I little more insight on possible differences between the two razors.
