It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

I’m really enjoying using this razor. 3 passes and it just gets better with every use. Probably about my 3rd shave with the Occam’s more aggressive plate (biggest holes) and it delivers consistently good results. I get 10+ hours of duration before any semblance of stubble appears which is fine on my end for a full days work or activities. In terms of cost versus performance this one is a real winner across the board. This razor punches way above it’s weight. Great offering for the money by CS.....

Nice review GlazedBoker Thanks for your insight especially in the very crowded new SS releases.

I put these 2 razors up against each other, the START .90 OC & Occam's Hybrid OC. Both fairly new in the DE world but, they are each phenomenal razors that offer excellent value and performance. The START is just a bit smoother feeling on the face with less blade feel yet efficient. While the Occam's has a bit more blade feel and just a notch below the Start in terms of smoothness. Still both are great on the skin and are winners out of the gate. On price I give the edge to the Occam's for @$65, find me a better value made of the same SS 316 alloy and virtually 5 razor set ups to tailor it to ones needs? Doesn't exist (perhaps the Rockwell 6s). The START is a bit more but, is also a step up in quality and finish. And I really enjoy what this razor kit delivers in terms of performance.

No losers really.....

A quick update on the Occam’s DE and my experience with it. I hadn’t shaved in practically 4 days as work has had me on the clock for nearly 16 hour days. Finally got a breather in today and needed to get a good shave in and get some face smoothness for myself and the Misses. Brought in the Occam’s with the hybrid OC plate (most efficient/aggressive plate), got a good lather from the GD soap and just went to town. What a marvelously efficient yet smooth cutting razor. 3 full passes, a chin buff and 4 days growth no more. I honestly did not expect this razor to perform so well. It combines efficiency and smoothness with relatively good blade feel but, keeps the bite like feel to a minimum on it. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re a bit careless or use a bit to much pressure it will leave it’s mark and remind you that it’s meant to cut. The results have been from good to excellent with every plate used in the kit. No regrets on acquiring this razor at all. Especially for the price that it’s available for. Price/performance ratio is through the roof.  Puts to shame a few other razors that are higher up on the food chain expense wise. Just a really good razor, period.

Gus, I bought this razor system on your recommendation. I find it to be a very nice system. The medium (mid-aggressive) base-plate is very effective for my head shaves. The mild plate is a bit inefficient, for me, but it still performs well for my head shaves. Unfortunately, the aggressive plate doesn't work as well as I had hoped for my face shaves. You had mentioned that its efficiency/aggressiveness was similar to the Blackbird, but, unfortunately, I don't find it to be true. It requires more passes and it isn't as efficient as the Blackbird.
I'll experiment some more with it to see if it improves.
Nonetheless, for the sale price or $65, it is a steal, really (unfortunately, I had to pay $25 for shipping, but it was still a very good deal). The machining on the handle is not very well done, but the heads are just fine and for 2 1/2 stainless steel razors heads with one handle, it is a superb price as the heads are quite smooth and efficient shavers.
Thanks again for the recommendation, even though I didn't need another shaver. Smile

I got the razor also and shaved with it yesterday for the first time on the EJ89 look alike plate with Feather blade. Not bad at all, not overly mild either with this plate because by reading many of others opinions they made it sound like it was mild like the Mamba or Gillette Tech. It is a sort of mild plate but the blade feel is there and 3 pass great shave was achieved same as any other much more aggressive razors I have.

As someone mentioned here it is not a quality of a CNC razor, but in no doubt the plates and top caps are made via MIM process and I noticed that by looking at the rounded tabs that is on all the base plates and top caps. I checked every single plate and blade alignment is perfect looking in any direction, considering this plus the clean look of all 5 pieces confirms even more to me that its a MIM process manufactured.

Once when I'm done with the Feather blade I'll be jumping on the medium plate to check how that one shaves. As far as price and overall package of the razor goes, in my case for $55 shipped it is a killer deal and I'm glad I jumped on it while there still was holidays promotion.

My apologies Celestino that the more aggressive plate didn’t meet your expectations. To me it does feel similar in that I ride the straight bar on the Blackbird so, I kind of get a similar feel between the Occam’s and BB. I should have given a better explanation before comparing them as to being identical. My bad amigo...  Cry

No need to worry, Gus. The Occam's DE razor is still a very good shaver. I have actually tried it with a Maggard's V3A aggressive top-plate and it is quite nice and very efficient. I'll experiment more with the original top-cap to see if I find any improvements. If not, I can just keep using it with the Maggard's top-cap. Smile

Ok so far I had 6 shaves with the mild plate with Feather blade, I will post for every plate separate. I'm very pleased with the mild plate, light blade feel and to compare with other razors I would say 2 notches above the Mamba ( standard) and 1 notch above the Game changer (standard) or in between the Game changer (standard) and my Ti Baby Smooth. Even though this plate is in the mild area it has enough blade feel to be rated on the aggressive end of mild plates. One thing that really surprised me that even though is a mild plate it is very and I mean very efficient! So efficient that I could of taken the Feather up to 8 shaves but since I want to try the other plates I cut it short at 6 shaves.

Conclusion: Plate 1 (Mild) gets a big thumbs up from me, but it didn't dethrone the Titanium BBS although it was a close fight. Curious to see how the Plate 2 (Medium) will fair and I will report.

Put the Occam's DE away for a couple weeks and was sampling a couple other offerings from Occam's Razors and a couple of Timeless razors as well.

Last night I used the OC hybrid plate with a twice used Rapira SS blade and it was as smooth if not smoother than my initial first shaves with it. The PannaCrema soap certainly aided in giving the Occam's an excellent base of protection and glide with superb slickness. The razor literally floated over my skin while giving a smooth and efficient feeling cut during all 3 passes with no harshness or overly done blade feel. I certainly don't classify the razor as overly aggressive. Perhaps mid at best but, nothing above that. And from what I remember the closed comb plate reminded me of an EJ89 type of shave. Mild and comfortable. Perhaps I'll try that plate again on the next shave just to refresh my memory. With the Hybrid OC plate it's a very good performing razor with a solid combination of efficiency and smoothness...
