The base is fantastic. The only reason to wait is if you require the creaminess and cushion that GD and WK have. Otherwise, this base does everything you would want it to and then some.

Yessir. And at least IMO, I think the base can compete with the best.

Yep...agreed. It does lack cushion. Eagerly awaiting v3.

OK, but frenchy was the one you tested the v2? Huh
Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

You’re doing yourself a huge disservice if you don’t try NO. Anyone in here who isn’t experiencing a good lather is most definitely not lathering it or hydrating it right. To me the new base shits all over WKDM.

Rud of Ruds Shaves on Youtube gives the newest v2 a score of 92 and I generally agree with Ruds. After cleaning out a lot of soaps that I rarely used, or just had grown bored with, I decided to limit myself to the best of the best whenever I could and not waste money on other soaps when possible. The only two I really want to try now are unfortunately damn near impossible to score: Grooming Dept. & Talbot. I want to see if they can best my #1 Sudsy Soapery. A friend is going to gift me some Wholly Kaw DM soap in the next month when he's in town to try as well.

Yep....there’s a reason Rud ranks NO below WK, GD and a few others....He’s coldly objective...Which I like...

NO might be more appealing to SE users where slickness is more valued than cushioning.

Once my samples of NO are used up...that’s it. Don’t get me wrong....it’s very, very good. Better than most. But...not at the A+ tier. I only get tubs of my personal A+ level...

What the hell is cushion anyway? If there was anything "cushioning" the blade contact to your skin, you wouldn't be cutting any hairs. A highly overrated and frankly, quite stupid metric to rate a shaving soap, IMO.

Cushion? Hmm I ask myself how do I check for it?. I can feel slickness before, during and after.

I don't know whether stupid or not, man, but I sure as hell don't understand what it is. Posting this on reddit yesterday as well: if a razor/blade glides over my skin, cutting whiskers but not harming skin we call it lather having good glide. Now when does the cushion come into play?

I don't know either but I think it might have something to do with how thick the lather paints on to your face, like whether you get the santa beard or a lighter covering. I consider glide and slick to be the same thing - if its slick enough, the blade will glide nicely over my skin. If a lather isn't slick enough it doesn't matter how thick or cushiony it is, you'll just get an uncomfortable shave with more lather. Like with Ogallala shaving soap. You can generate loads of beautiful cushiony lather but you're still going to get a second rate shave, it will smell nice though.Big Grin
