I added another 29mm to my stash. Looking forward to it. This is the first public drop of his XD knots so it’ll be cool to try them out.

The black handles looked great but I like his 29’s a lot and I like the idea of a set of shapes all in the same color.

Aldo had a Drop yesterday. You can look on his site and see the Brushes on the ‘Purchase’ page of his site. Some very nice looking ‘Rangers’. I would have loved to snag a 29mm Low Light Ranger.

Thank you for taking the time to respond but pardon my ignorance, I'm fairly new to this, but who is Aldo and what's his website?

I let Google be my friend and found out who Aldo is. Somehow in the back of my mind I had another artisan's name behind Varlet brushes. I had signed up to be notified about his drops. So much for that idea I guess. I support many artisans and some are very good at communicating. Aldo makes great brushes based on reviews I read but communicating is not one of his strengths.

Just to be clear, I signed up to his email notification. I received none and missed the drop.

Some of the Varlet releases are announced on the blog/email, some are unannounced. You will have another shot eventually.

Nothing on the blog and I'm on the e-mail list. So, the e-mail he sends out are to his distribution list or are the e-mails to a handful of guys who get the alerts?

Even if you had received an email, it doesn't mean much.....there will be 5-600 guys hammering
the website at the precise time of the drop. Only the ones who know the ins and outs of such things succeed.
Luck also factors in.

Some guys are better at chasing these things than others. All you need is the drive to commit yourself 100%. Helps to have a desk job
where you sit at a computer all day with your browser open.

In case you feel bad about the missed drop, console yourself as I do....brushes are really the least important part of the shave.
Many will disagree, but for me it's razor, blade and soap that determine the excellence of the shave. Brushes do, however, make us happy.
With the way they look and feel on the face....and Varlet seems to score very high in those aspects. Im currently very happy with
a Muhle synthetic knot (I know, LOL) in a very sexy wolf whiskers handle. Been using it for a couple of months every day and don't even touch the badger.

But since I'm all razored up for life, I will eventually turn my attention to these Varlets...it's a challenge I wouldn't mind setting myself.

I see he's up to $310 for a 29mm....you'd think that would curb demand but seems to be the opposite. Human behaviour is so fascinating.

I have more then enough brushes from top artisans. I do hope eventually end up with one of Aldo's brushes to add to me collection.
