I bought one of the Batch 1 razors and loved it. A mild razor but with a Feather Pro blade it gave me a very close shave, no blood loss, no irritation. Much better for me than the Mongoose that I kept for all of three shaves.I liked the General so much I thought my son should have one and ordered a second one on the next batch. I do use a Trident stainless steel handle on it as it is a very light razor. I keep thinking I'd like a stainless steel single edge razor but I don't know how I could do any better than this one.

Love it. Used it from the first of Sept through midweek last week (aside from a few straight razor shaves). For me - using Feather Pros, it's a tad more aggressive than the chrome Hawk that arrived last week. Like some vintage razors (patent pending 1914s), the Feather Pros took several uses to smooth out. Feather Proguards felt like Feather Pros that have smoothed out on the first shave. And Kai Pro Touch MGs were super smooth and efficient in the General and would've been my blade for it if it wasn't for the price and that I found an awesome deal for Feather Pros from the b/s/t. Fit and finish is great - even for the "blemished" batch.

Our GEM SE may be an open comb! Smile I worked a tad on it last Friday. Smile

hey kyle, nice to know your considering producing the gem razor down the road, considering how sharp, smooth and long lasting are the personna gem PTFE blades it would be shame not to have modern razor made for it besides the vintage ones.

Curious though, will choice of metals be aluminum only or stainless steel also?

We currently are working on a new razor, but it is not a Gem style. We do plan to offer a Gem style razor in the very near future, though. It will most likely be aluminum to start.

Regards,

Kyle

ATT S2 (OC) on UFO Kiser (long). A deceptively mild and exceptionally efficient shave - 3 passes + a bit of touch up = irritation free BBS.

The General was my second single edge and it is my absolute favorite. The guys from Colonial razors have done an awesome job and they are also very responsive to questions and emails.

I had to wait a minute on my razor because we had the hurricane issue here in South Carolina but man was it worth the wait. Very nice medium efficient razor that gives me a simple BBS with Feather Pro blades so far. the razor has a nice feel as build quality to it, it is simple to find the angle and it might be one of the best deals in shaving. I see no need to try one of the more expensive single edge razors since this gives me a BBS and BBS is as good as you can get.

I wish these guys the absolute best and I WILL be buying the silver anodized version.

for $60, I'm going to pick one up for sure.

according to their instagram page, their second batch will be available in late October and have 2 color choices available.

I like the new look of the silver anodized so I'll def pick it up. It's kind of nice that knowing how I am and how many times I like having backups of something, that I can purchase another one of these to compliment each other and they are so affordable that one doesn't mind. Well affordable compared to some of my DE razors anyway (Wolfman, Timeless and ATT).

Nice that Colonial is following up with additional runs of this razor so quickly. I used mine again this morning and got another great shave. I will likely try to add the silver one when it becomes available. I never expected to like this razor so much.

I'm quite fond of my two Standard Razors, which The General reminds me of a great deal. For the money, I might have to get one as I've also wanted to give the "SE thing" a try. It's a great price point and the aesthetics are neat/different in this niche.
