Is whisky cork is better than wine cork....I use latter but after using a few times
the blade seems to dislodge fine particles from of the cork.
If whisky corks are tougher I wouldn't mind trying.

Many of the larger commercial wineries have already shifted to "synthetic" corks (some kind of plastic) or "screw tops". I talked with several smaller artisan wineries recently, and some are shifting to the screw tops for cost savings and they say the wine can be preserved for the same length of time. Not sure I believe that. I recently purchased several wines from France and Italy, with the screw tops...so it is a global issue. I hope the Whisky bottlers stay with "real" corks. Unfortunately, everything today is controlled by bean counters...so I have little hope of any "quality" sticking around for the near future. Thanks to Alan for posting this topic. I will save as many "real" corks as I can.
