I'd stick with latest Rocca version. They made manufacturing improvements to the head.

I wonder if some prefer earlier generations of the Rocca to the later Gen 4?

At one point I was seriously considering a R94 and was reading all I could on the head versions across three forums. Literally, everyone who owned different versions and got the V4 preferred the V4, with MAYBE the exception of one person who said he couldn't tell the difference with his V3.

Does anyone know when Muhle released Version 4?  I have an R96 which I purchased in November 2019, and I cannot tell which version I may have.  Thanks in advance for answering my question.

V4 was introduced with the R94, so no V3 or earlier versions of the R94 exist.

I think it was early 2020? Maybe late 2019? I guess you either have one of the first, or you've just missed it. If the top has a hollow stud with noticeable circles left and right of it, you still have a V3. If it has a solid stud and no circles, it's V4. The base plate has a single long groove in the middle either way.
