Between switching to artisanal soaps & using shaving soaps that my face reacts to as hand soaps I've had a lot less cracked skin on my hands than previously (granted, the temperature hasn't gotten below 20F/-6C yet this winter...).

I've tried baths soaps from Chiseled Face, Crowne & Crane, WSP, Cellar Door, and an Etsy seller Arcadia Naturals. I don't care at all about lather volume, just looking for maximum moisturization. So far, I've found Crowne & Crane & Arcadia Naturals to work best for me, but the latter's more expensive and neither has more than one scent that I like.

Anyone else's offerings I should try? Preferably vegetable-based...

I actually picked up some new soap to try the other day and I really like it. It's called Dr. Woods Naturally Bar Soap Exfoliating Lavender. The scent is awesome and doesn't seem to dry me out.

I'm a big fan of Chagrin Valley Soaps. They have a large selection of soaps. I've been using both their bars soaps and shampoo bars.

I have found milk soaps to be very moisturizing, particularly the Italian ones. My wife picks up the large bars at Home Goods and Ross from time to time and often times they are actually made by Saponificio Varesino. SV is a large scale bath soap producer that produces soaps for other companies to put their name on and has their own line as well of course. Pre de Provence has an excellent milk soap as well.

I'm a fan myself, especially in the winter months.

Pre de Provence is predictable and consistent from batch to batch. As a bonus, the scents are excellent. And there are over 30 scents.

Thanks, all. I'd forgotten, I already had Chagrin Valley bookmarked, at least one of their soaps contains goat milk, and to top it off they sell sample sizes. Being a sample addict I've ordered a few, I'll let you know what I think in a few weeks.

So in the last few weeks I've tried a couple of samples from Chagrin Valley and the Body Bar from Siliski Soaps. All of them felt good on the hands but left my back itching. I'm guessing it's not a moisturizer content issue as they all appear to pretty high on that scale.

On the other hand, I've tried a couple more samples from Cellar Door & they've gone up quite a bit in my estimation; I think I must have been a bit allergic to something in the scent of the first sample I tried. They don't lather as much as the others & feel noticeably slicker & there's no irritation afterwards.
