Great shaves the last 2 days with Mike's bay rum and then O/C/BP. Always a winner, definitely interested in the new scent that's come out.

I have been using Mike's on and off since I have began the wet shaving journey of variety. Every time I chose to use a Mike's shave soap, it worked and gave remarkable results. But I may have to return to it years down the road. My skin may like some of the Hungarian Lavender I have left for a colder winter weather shave.

I noticed the feeling on my skin the last few shaves was still very comfortable after the shave but it seemed like the formulation was too much for my skin. Many people have the desire to try this soap for it's lathering capabilities. But many people may not be able be able to use them due to the lanolin. I haven't really been using tallow soaps as much as I used to but I think many people would enjoy Mike's once you get the water and lather all figured out.

What do you mean by "too much for your skin"?

It may be that my skin in this hotter and drier weather doesn't require a shave soap with as much superfatting. That isn't to say that Mike's is not great or it is formulated wrong. The feeling I get is the tallow, cocoa butter and lanolin may be the greasier ingredients that my skin is "feeling"?

Hmm. Not sure I’ve personally noticed that. I have very sensitive skin and is a weird combo of dry and oily all together. Mike’s is still comfortable in the summer. I have not seen any difference in using Mike’s compared to other top tier tallow soaps.

But you may be onto something about the lanolin. I don’t use vegan or non-tallow soaps very often.

maybe someone else in the thread has experienced something similar?

I just received the shaving soap in the Bergamot, Orange, Ylang-ylang (EO) scent, and it is excellent. The formula works really well for my skin type, and I love the simplicity of his offerings.

I find that this scent is sort of the brighter version of OCBP.

Used Mike's (bayrum) after quite some time. Used new GD, Vespers, Icarus during last 10 or so days - Mike still seems like a top performer to me. I hope he keeps making soaps and comes up with new scents every now and then.

I've been wondering how I can try this without buying a tub, I just need a sample.
