Did something change in the last 24 hours?

When I first go to DFS, things look okay, and there is a little blue & white "Home" icon in the upper left.
As soon as I go to any forum or "recent posts", etc, it turns into a blue square with four white lines (a drop-down menu). This blue square replaces the horizontal menu (SHAVING & GROOMING / SHOW & TELL / SHOPPING / REVIEWS ) which is now suddenly gone, and the menu with a black background expands to take up 2/3 of the width of the window. That at least can be dismissed by clicking at the "X".

When I scroll down even a tiny bit, a 1/2" wide black stripe appears down the left side of the browser window, obscuring whatever was there.
The only way to restore it to the "normal" appearance is to open DFS in a new tab, but it only clears up until you click at something, then the black stripe reappears immediately when you scroll down in the new page.

*new info*
I see now that when you make the browser (Safari v14.0.1) window go full-screen, it looks okay, but I never had to do that before (and it is inconvenient).
Opera (v69.0.3686.77) does not appear to be similarly affected.
I don't have Firefox installed on this one.

Does DFS think I'm using a mobile device or something?

Stay calm. Be brave. Wait for the signs.

I used the "Comic" font so you'd know this was just a little ribbing. Hope it gets sorted out for you.

at certain screen size resolutions, the site will automatically adjust to make it easier to use based on your device & screen size/orientation.

But ... this just started yesterday and I had not changed any browser or system-wide settings.
It also doesn't account for the black stripe obscuring the content underneath it.

We have screen shots. I didn't think to use the time delay until the last one, so that the Dock icon is not expanded.
No idea why they look so huge.

Initial appearance:

After clicking to somewhere, still at top of browser window:

Scrolling down:
(Note content obscured by black line at left.)

Browser window in Full Screen view, looking normal-ish. Blue square automagically reverts back to Home icon:

It's not affected by scrolling down anymore.

MacBook Pro with macOS Catalina v 10.15.7
Safari Version 14.0.1 (15610.2.11.51.10, 15610) - released Nov. 12, 2020
Neither has had any updates or changes to settings in more than a week (Nov.12), so that's why I'm pointing the finger at the DFS forum software.
Then again, the latest version of MyBB (v 1.8.24) appears to have been released August 9, 2020.

nothing in the theme has changed in a little while - that's what would cause an issue, if it's a theme related issue. perhaps something introduced in the new version of safari is causing the site theme to sometimes break, I'm not sure.

I'll try to get on my mac mini tomorrow and test in safari, if time allows.

That may be, but see the bottom half of this post.
I suspect it was just a coincidence that a very particular combination of conditions had not existed before, so I had never seen it happen until recently.
