[Image: r2MFxkQ.jpg]One of the biggest goals of Talbot Shaving is to attempt to provide an experience with the shave.  Whether it’s emotional like a memory or story, or just a solid shave and a smile, it’s important that something positive comes from using the soap.

Rewind to February and a gathering with some friends.  I was given the chance to try an aftershave brand called “Maol Grooming”, and the scent was “Marlogue Wood”.  Upon first sniff, I was transported to a time when I was a young man at my Grandparents’ home cutting, splitting, and stacking wood for them to fuel their stove in the winter.

The scent of Marlogue Wood brought back memories I thought I had completely forgotten.  It evoked vivid images of my youth, and reminded me of the way it felt to be rewardingly tired from a hard days work.

Marlogue Wood offers the scent of November in New England.  It is the echo of the wind blowing through the bare branches of trees in the woods.  It is the eery calm and quiet of the impending New England winter.  It is clean, crisp, fresh cut wood being stacked neatly in preparation of a cold and harsh winter.

I immediately reached out to Sean with my experience, and little did I know that it would open up a friendship that grows stronger each day.

It is my absolute honor to offer this Maol Grooming scent in Talbot Shaving soap.

Marlogue Wood is named after a forest in County Cork, Ireland.  Sean’s family hails from a small village in Cork and he thought it fitting for the scent.

Sean’s scent description reads as follows: “Out of the bottle the Balsam Fir is front and centre. But soon after application, the scent transforms into a pure wood scent that takes you to the middle of a forest then surprises you with a clean vetiver note.  Just close your eyes and you will be there.”

Scent notes include: Balsam Fir Needle, Cedarwood, Atlas Cedarwood, Ho Wood, Pine, Patchouli, Cypress, Vetiver, Myrrh, Juniper Berry

Release date from West Coast Shaving is forthcoming.

Hello all, I have some news on a couple of fronts.

Marlogue Wood soap and aftershave will be available from West Coast Shaving on December 13th at 12 noon Eastern Time.  I’m truly honored to have the chance to host Maol Grooming’s outstanding fragrance in my soap, especially since it will be retired by Maol Grooming after this run.

While we await Marlogue Wood, I’m proud to say that Talbot Shaving will have it’s own little part in Cyber Monday over at West Coast Shaving.

Once in awhile, I’ll be digging back into the archives of scents and offering samples of a past scent.  The “Throwback Series” will offer a new chance to try a scent I haven’t made in awhile, in a small and fun sized portion.

First up in the Throwback Series is 2017’s Howick Hall.  This was a dopp bag/soap collaboration with my sister in law Nadia from luuee.  She made a handful of English Wool dopps which were accompanied by a soap in an Earl Grey tea scent.  A very small number of jars of Howick Hall were made, but on Cyber Monday you can grab a sample and give it a shot.  I hope you enjoy!

Big news on the Marlogue Wood release! The Maol / Talbot release of Marlogue Wood has been moved up to December 9th at noon EST. The splash and soap will be available at West Coast Shaving and Maol’s full line will be restocked at Top Of The Chain the week of the 9th. We hope you enjoy this set and appreciate everyone’s continued support.

Also today is “Giving Tuesday” and donations to The Trust for Public Land are tripled! Today I made the donation from the upcoming Marlogue Wood sale with that in mind. Thanks everyone!
