When I'm not in a rush, I shave with a straight razor. That means at least half the time I shave with a DE. Recently, I ordered a Maggard V2 Open Comb head and I paired it with their MR3 handle. Today, I put a Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless blade in it. It was the Semogue 620's turn in the rotation and I used it to lather up some Cella. I did a 3 pass shave and I've got to say the results were equal to a straight razor shave. BBS and zero irritation. I think this is the cheapest razor I own, but I don't think (at least set up like it is) that I have any that shave any better than this one does. I think it's a very well designed head. There were times when I wasn't even sure the blade was touching my face, but the whiskers in the lather testified that it was. I'm very impressed.

I agree- I have the same OC head on another handle [iKon Bamboo]. May not be the prettiest head finish, but it gets the job done very well and you can't beat the price.

Love this razor!

The V2 open comb head on the MR5 "heavy" handle is my daily driver. I am just now trying the Gillette Green 7 O'clock blades. I had great DFS with both Personna Reds and the Gillette Silver Blues.

I love my V2. I haven't tried a blade that doesn't work great paired with it.

My V3/MR22 combo is easily my favorite DE razor. No question, it provides the best shave in terms of closeness, longevity and comfort...

It's the closed comb, but still a fantastic and inexpensive razor...

I understand that the V2 open comb head is made by Parker, I've heard nothing but good things about it. I will have to pick one up with my next Maggard order! :-)

Casie confirmed that not too long ago in fact. This seems to be touchy to some re: OEM relationships but this is a solid head, used by a number of vendors in the marketplace and offers consistently good shaves from my experience.

Winner!

I bought the Maggard Open Comb V2 because I dropped my Parker 26c and its post got slightly bent. I like it even better than the Parker because the MR7 handle is just perfect for me. Plus the Open Comb head and the MR7 handle costs less than the Parker.
I'm considering getting another one just as a backup in case they decide to discontinue.
