since I'll likely be picking up a baby smooth DE razor when they're available again, I'm looking for some feedback on razorock SMDF that Joe sells to maximize on shipping costs.

worth the $20? good quality? slick & provides good cushion? how does it compare to Santa Maria Novella Crema da Barba (SMN)?

thanks!

I was hoping that it would be a decent soap as I really like the SMN scent. SMdF definitely delivers on the scent but I felt the shave was sub-par. I always developed a gorgeous looking lather but for some reason or another it never matched well with my skin. I always have some kind of irritation after using SMdF. I also have a sample of SMN v3 and that stuff is simply amazing. I'm asking for a full tub of it for my birthday; so slick and protective. I can't put my finger on what's lacking for SMdF as it seems slick and the lather I get is dense. It is a curious thing.

Thanks for your thoughts Brian. I was also interested in picking up this soap. It seems like it would be a good value at 8 oz. for $20.

I have to agree with Brain, the two aren't even comparable beyond scent. SMN is spectacular in every respect and SMdF is average at best in performance. I'd recommend that you save your $20 and put it towards a tub of SMN.

I found the performance of SMDF to be about a 7.5 out of 10. But YMMV obviously

A great solution to getting over your curiosity. If you love it I've got two more tubs for you

As a recent recipient I found it deserves time to sort out and eventually enjoy very much. As always, these products have enough admirers product that work has a ready resale or trade market.

Great to be able to try it without having to layout the 20 bills!

I'm with Nathan on this one: while the scent is very good and similar to SMN, the quality of the soap itself is not similar. SMdF is not bad at all; it is just in the unfortunate position of comparing itself with what could likely be the very best shaving product on the planet.
