did a quick search and didn't see anything...  I saw onethinline post about his dreamy shave with his ATT Calypso M1 in another thread. I'm also a fan of lighter razors and know that Stan's razor are top quality stuff. I have an ATT S2 myself but I almost never use it.

what's the Calypso M1 like? mild & efficient shaver?

Yep, that's my experience with it. I throw a Feather blade into it and it leaps around my face with agility and does the trick in a standard 2-3 passes, but with very, very little injury or offense to my skin. I have weeper-prone skin but coarse whiskers so mild-but-efficient are the best razors for me. I've recently been using my new open comb Timeless (with the milder gap), and it's nice, but I really do prefer the lightweight feel of something like the Calypso. Very happy with it.

My skin is the same as well..prone to razor burn, ingrowns and I have coarse hair too.

I like my Calypso M1. Think AS-D2 with a tad more blade feel.

andrewjs18, I was also looking for Calypso M1 reviews a while back, and couldn’t find much. As you said, onethinline was kind enough to post about his experience — in the Calypso R1 thread, no less, which is helpful, since I’m sure many are trying to decide between the two versions.

If you get one at some point, it would be great to hear your thoughts on it.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I've had the M1 for a few weeks now. I've become an total aluminum convert. To compare, my two favorites are an aluminum Wolfman (standard gap) and the also aluminum Standard. The M1 is easily the smoothest of the three. I also like the thinness of the head for getting into tight spots. The supplied Astra blades are always great, but I've liked the Gillette Platinum blades even more. It's as enjoyable to use as it is to look at! I've not used my other razors since. ...if that helps.

This may be a bit off topic (I apologize in advance). What are the advantages of the aluminum razor over stainless. I use the ATT Kronos R1 regularly. I really enjoy that razor. Why might one switch from stainless to aluminum?

I think it's more about the weight and cost versus its stainless steel counterpart.

Yep. Aluminum gets you a lighter-weight razor (which many of us prefer; for me it allows better control of pressure) in a material that will still last a good long time. And, indeed, it is less expensive.
