My understanding is that even if the exposure remains the same, a higher gap will lead to a more efficient result. More skin can enter the gap and the blade therefore gets closer to the whiskers.

1.4 would probably work as a daily shaver but, tbh, I haven‘t tried. Although I shave each and every day, I keep moving from one razor to the next.

I disagree on this guys. There are too many factors, the most important thing how the hair grows, how. A higher gap, generally speaking, is not due to shave better, depending by that 'how'. A higher gap does not always shave better. If your hair grows quite parallel to the skin is usually better to shave with a smaller gap and a higher exposure for example. But well this is just my experience.
I would like to say that I am not criticizing the razor about the efficiency aspect. I am just saying it does not shave close enough.

P.s. From the passaround to the actual razor is true that the pins changed. At the same time changed the way of blade clamping!

I did a passaround in a different forum and that one had the current version of the Le Maurice head. In my short time with the set, I tried the 1.0, 1.2, and 1.4 gaps and found the 1.2 to work best for me. I purchased a 1.2 in machined stainless with a grooved safety bar and so far I really, really like it!

After trying the 1.2, then 1.4, then 1.6 ALL GROOVED/GROOVED, and ALL in Sand-Blasted COPPER, starting when they first became available,
I recently obtained the 2.0 (Also,Grooved/Grooved), COPPER, but in Basic MEDIEVAL Finish, I can actually feel an up shift in efficiency!
I traded the 1.2 & 1.4, SOON AFTER GETTING the 2.0. Also, the Medieval Finish (Which is just recently available), is much nicer than the sand-blasted,
at least to ME.

I loved participating in a Le Maurice passaround through another forum. I did it with some curiosity, but not sure what I'd find. I was a little cautious about the large gaps, at the time I didn't have as much experience with that. Immediately Maurice gave me exceptional shaves and I added one in the 1.2mm gap to my den. The passaround sold me on a razor I wouldn't have otherwise considered. I wish more designers would do them.

I'm surprised more designers don't do this.

We live in a world where brick and mortar shops are fading away, and what better use of advertising funds than to get your products in the hands of the public.  I've been lusting after a LaFaulx, and much to my regret, I missed the pass-around.  It would have made a high-dollar razor decision a lot easier ;-)
