So, as I was lathering up today I got to thinking, "How long do I do this before I'm satisfied with the lather"?

I do a pretty good prep routine and since I'm primarily a cream user, it usually doesn't take to long, maybe 1.5 minutes is all.

But I know there are many who do things differently so curiousity got to me and I have to ask "How long does it take y'all to get the lather you want"?

It really is a personal preference, but once your lather is fully hydrated, it should be ready. However, that could take 1-5 minutes depending on various factors
Personally, as I face-lather using large knots, exclusively, and I mainly use shave-sticks, it takes me 2-3 minutes, in general.

I typically use softer 3 band or silver tip brushes paired with thirsty soaps. Without having much issue of over exfoliating my face, I can face lather and get the consistency at around 3 minutes. If I head shave, lathering on the head is about 4 minutes or a bit longer.

It takes me about 50 seconds.

It doesn't take me long.

Gotta ask, celestino how do you use a Mystic Water's shave stick? I can't for the life of me get a good lather from them without loading directly from the stick and even then it seems to take forever.

I can get good loads relatively easily now from a Mystic Water puck but it takes a bit of 'blooming' and a boat ton of load time and water.

It depends on what soap I am using and what method I am using. Sometimes I bowl lather with a cream and a badger, sometimes I face lather with a synthetic and a hard soap and pretty much anything in between.

All depends on the brush for me. With my Chubby 2 Super, it takes significantly longer to build a lather than with my synthetics. The chubby is a lather hog!

I love the whole lather process so I'm going to be longer than most I suppose. Face lather. Loading heavy. Work the lather about three minutes.

Hi, Spencer.
I wish I could post a video, but I lack the technological aptitude for such things. Shy
I apply a very liberal amount of soap on my face when using the shave stick. Then, with a damp brush, I use some circular strokes to start off, then follow with more paint-brush strokes which seem to work best for generating great lather without aerating the lather. I keep adding water, little by little, while using mainly paint-brush strokes. Once I hydrate the lather to my desired consistency, then I start shaving.
The lather always seems to be just about perfect this way.
I would highly recommend using the paint-brush strokes for the majority of the time while adding water, little by little, to see what happens.

If you need any further assistance, we can try to set up a Skype session if you want. Smile

Good luck.

Probably 3-4min. I add water pretty slowly so I'm sure I could be faster, but it's fun too so why rush it?
