The unison between bergamot and sandalwood works so well here. Just a well executed simple combination. Not as powerfully scented as some of the other L&L soaps. I can see why Scott is keeping this (his original) as a permanent offering.

I have not tried Midnight & Two or Desmond's yet but my brush has touched most. This soap base is in my top 3, maybe even number 1 it's that good. Great soap!

I'm hoping this is available through Maggards soon. I'd like to buy a couple other things besides.

He pretty much had me at the repeated Picard descriptions.

Got my original and bandwagon today, L&L has become the top soap in my den, just an all around perfect soap.

I broke down & ordered two samples from Maggards to see what all the "hubub" was about. Yes, it is true that the scents are absolutely top shelf and performance is outstanding. It is an artisan's artisan shave soap for sure.

Let's be intellectually honest here in that when you are paying for soap at the top tier level such as this that fragrance becomes paramount to separate them as performance is literally "neck & neck", no pun intended. If we were to blindfold the person as well as put a clothespin on his nose and let someone else lather their face then this person would be unable to tell the difference in the resultant shave between the top tier soaps IMO.

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

I think some of the lathers may vary slightly, but between my top five or six soaps, I'd be hard pressed to find a difference in results. The post shave is where I notice some difference, especially as I stray from my very favorites. L&L is one of the best, for sure.

My first experience with L&L bison tallow soap was blackberry blossom bay. I loved the performance. So I bought original. I love the scent but it burned my skin almost immediately upon application. This did not happen with the blackberry blossom bay nor has it happened with any other soap. I imagine this has to do with the FO. I am going to stop using the original but now I am worried about buying more L&L.

I have to agree. It's crowded out barrister and Mann right now which is off because I'm a B&M fanboy. I'm curious what original is like? And I have not picked up bandwagon yet - curious on scent

L&L is known for strong scents. My favorite is the Unscented. I think artisans are overdoing it in the scent department these days in an effort to keep up/stand out.

Sorry to hear about the issues, and you are probably right about the fragrance oil. All I can say is that I’ve tried Darkfall and the two DFS 2017 Limited Edition release candidates; I have fairly sensitive skin, and some soaps will really heat it up (probably even more so if I’ve spent time in the sun, wind, etc.), but I can’t recall having any problems with those soaps.

Hopefully Original is the only one that could cause this — although I’m a little disappointed in that possibility, because the scent sounds like a winner.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I enjoy the scent very much. But, the burning...probably just my body chemistry.
