Gents,

Hello!  So I am acquiring a NoS Kron Best Model 14 Gran Mogal Triple Medalla.  All I know is that it is a Spanish brand, it’s an 8/8 “singing” full hollow, and I have been told it is made out of Swedish Steel.

Does anyone have any additional information about possible date of manufacture, the steel used, how it honed/takes an edge, how it shaves, etc?

Thanks!

Shaves marvelous. It's a #14 blade, so probably from Solingen.
Have a nice day!

Thanks guys!  It should be shipping today or tomorrow!  I am excited about this one after thoroughly enjoying the Zwillingswerk 14!

Happy to report that my Kron Vest will be shipping on Monday or Tuesday!  My friend also is including a first generation Filarmonica 14 with “Severino Yanez Vaciador Salamanca” stamped on the back of the tang.  I have not seen a Filarmonica with this stamped on the back of the tang, and the only information that I have is that this was a shop in Mataro, Spain, which is still around today!

This Fili 14 is 15/16, and I am pretty excited to be getting it with the KV at the same time.  It will be fun and interesting to compare them!

If anyone has any additional information about this Fili 14, with this stamp on the back, can you please fill us in?

Thanks!

Ols67, I wish I could help you out but I know very little regarding straights...and even less regarding history of straights.  But when I saw the stamp included "Salamanca", I immediately thought of the Breaking Bad series.  One of the characters is named Salamanca:

YES!  I didn’t think of the old man...I thought of the Salamanca twins with the sweet boots that came up from Mexico to kill Walt.

Great minds!
