A majority of my custom orders are for 26mm SHD 2-band knots, second to that is 28mm, and third is 24mm. For synthetic knots (which I don't sell as many of), the majority is also 26mm.

I can only comment on synthetics, but 24-26mm, at the largest available loft is my preference.

But this is mainly with badger knots.

Synthetics have a different behavior.
Specially the new gen thin ones.

I've the Oumo Mother Lode, as those selling via APshave Co.
The sweetest synth fiber out there now, because It's born as cosmetic brush for ladies.
Like any synthetic, it does not capture the water inside the fibers.
Unlike many others, such a thin fiber produces a very high density.
So much so that it maintains a high amount of water, given the overall surface.
But it also has an enviable flow of lather, given the flexibility and delicacy that allows it to splay easily.
So much so that just put it under water to see it fling.
In fact, in this model I recommend a really low setting, and a large section.

This is my PP73, with 28x50mm knot setting.

This being a knot size thread I thought I had this figured out what's getting a 24 mm handle to put my 24 mm motherlode knot into. If it's in the cheap Chinese handles just fine but I don't want it there.
   When I got this nice brush handle I noticed there is a pretty good  difference in size and it's a 24 mm handle 24 mm knot.
   Here's some pictures I want it a high loft, but apparently there's a lot of slack play around the knot plug.
   Have you guys experienced this, what to do?

I've set 10 knots, all synthetics, and I like them with high lofts.

You generally want 1-2mm difference in the knot and the hole size. For one thing, you don't want to set a synthetic knot right at the plug depth. I've done it with one, and the fibers tend to separate in an undesirable way. If you sink it just a few mm lower, you'll get a more natural splay. I don't like much backbone in my synths, and I still sink mine a few mm into the handle. The second reason is that the knot is going to have a glue bump right above the plug. That bump is usually going to make the knot a few mm wider just above the plug. That means you need a hole that's just a bit wider than the plug in order for it to seat well.

Experiment with some spacers. You can buy nylon or plastic washers, but for 24-26mm holes, I just use quarters. try one, two, maybe even three quarters in the hole. When the plug sits on the quarter without having to be forced into the hole, but doesn't leave an obvious gap between the fibers and the edge of the hole, then you've found the right setting for a high-lofted synthetic.

Ok so that helps, I've just set 1. I've got the plastic washers so I'm good there.
 So that's good information that you want the plug down below the lift a little bit, a few millimeters. Here's where it setting and it doesn't have much slack, I will use silicone. And this one isn't set it's just washer up into place,dry. Which I suppose with about three of these plastic washers using silicone will take up some more Gap so I might want to watch that it sounds like .
