Ok I will. The problem is that I’m not the original buyer of the razor. I will contact him though, can’t hurt.

I had a Paradigm 17-4 SS and I just didn't get on with it. However, today was my first shave with the Karve plate F and it was a fantastic shave and, possibly, the closest shave I have ever had. I much prefer the Karve.
However, the only way to find out is for you to try it for yourself, unfortunately.
Good luck.
Thank you. I’ll buy it and try it out.

Quite honestly the Paradigm 17-4 I have requires so much buffing for a close shave and even without buffing it always irritates me so much. I get a closer more comfortable shave from my SuperSpeed and Ti Baby Smooth. I have high hopes for the Karve and it’s different plates.

I don’t have a paradigm, but I’ve read that you really have to pay attention because there’s not much blade feel so it’s easy to apply too much pressure.

Just a heads up... You're not the only one who didn't have a positive experience with the 17-4. My results were dead opposite of what others were reporting on the forums. But as a result, when I started reading so many people comparing the similarities between the Karve (F) and the 17-4, it made me a bit apprehensive to purchase the Karve as well, knowing my personal experience with the 17-4. But I ultimately took the chance, purchasing the Karve razor as of yesterday and I'm certainly looking forward to trying it! And full disclosure, I would maybe purchase another 17-4 just to try it, as quite honestly, I'm not sure if I just simply didn't "get along" well with the razor or if mine had some issues. I have tons of razors (almost all of the high end razors) so I'm certainly accustomed to trying new razors, but my experience with the 17-4 was just so different! Initially, it was thought that the head was defective but upon returning it to Bullgoose, Phil inspected it and thought different so the razor was sold (buyer was made aware) and apparently he enjoys the razor...haha...go figure. I just hope I enjoy the Karve razor as much as everyone else (it'll have some big shoes to fill, as I love all of my Charcoal razors and my Timeless razors, as well as my Wolfman and Colonial General, etc.). And who knows, maybe I'll give the 17-4 another go around, if it is indeed re-released. Upon receiving my Karve razor, I'll share my thoughts and overall experience!

Sorry about the lengthy post....

You enjoy most of the same razors that I do. I have all three versions of the Paradigm and I really enjoy them all as well as the Karve. A lot of people want to say that this is the best and why does something have to be the best how about just different and enjoy the differences

This is what I found with the 17-4, for some reason. It usually left me with stubble and irritation. I guess I need more practice with DE razors. Big Grin

You’re not the only one Celestino, the first shave I had with my Paradigm was the best. Ever since then the Shaves have been awful. Obviously operator error, but I sure don’t have to think about my shaves with any of my other Razors! Maybe one of these days I’ll use it for a week or two straight to see if I can get on with it. I still need to try out my “F” plate, but as of now for me my Blackbird and Timeless .95 OC are both smoother and more efficient than the “E” plate. My Charcoal Goods lvl 2 with a Feather blade is also a smoother shaver for me and just as efficient as the “E” plate. The Karve is by no means rough to me, the other Razors are just smoother shavers for me. This may have something to do with their efficiency. Obviously these are just my personal experiences with this Razor. I still say the Karve is the best Bang for Your Buck Razor out there. Next up will be a Shave with my “F” plate. Looking forward to getting some more shaves under my belt with the Karve.

I agree with your statement "rawfox1" about enjoying the differences each individual razor possesses, rather than classifying a razor as #1! Personally, part of why I have so many razors (and wetshaving items in general) is because I enjoy each item for what it is, as they all offer subtle differences, some more noticeable than others, but none are exactly alike. When people rate their favorite razors... I always get a laugh because I'll see most lists simply numbered 1-5, whereas my lists either say "in no particular order" or else at other times I'll list my #1 but will have 3 razors then listed beside #1, then for #2 I'll have another 2-3 razors listed with it. Basically what it comes down to is my struggle to rank my razors, as they each have qualities I enjoy. Now don't get me wrong, I do have a group of favorite razors that I really enjoy and end up using more of, but I can't pick between them, as they're all "the best" for me, but they each have their own individual "strengths" that I seek out given the particular situation. For example, I really like my Wolfman best for daily shaves, so that's the situation I use it most for, while on the other hand I love my .95 Timeless Ti razor just as much, but I really enjoy it for 2 days growth instead.... They all play a role to me, some just more prominent than others (and more enjoyable).

I'll definitely be curious to hear your thoughts on the F plate, particularly if you notice a significant increase in efficiency from E to F. Thanks

Change is part of life. I now prefer the Karve F plate to my Paradigm 17-4. Closer, smoother and more comfortable shaves. And that’s ok. The 17-4 is still a great razor and for someone else it will be the opposite. Chris built an amazing razor in the Karve.

Brad Melling is a friend of Chris Kirchen from Ontario who got him into wet shaving and was instrumental in testing designs and finishes from the outset.

Hence...the Christopher Bradley.

I'll be going home to the US for a visit soon and decided to take the plunge on a Karve with 3.5" handle and C plate. Also ordered a Timeless with both .68 and .95 plates. Overkill? Maybe. But something tells me it's a splurge I won't regret!

I typically use R4 on my Rockwell 6S, occasionally R3, and today with 5 days' growth I pulled out R6 which was lovely but I did get a couple minor nicks. I'm hoping the Karve C plate is a good place to start, and it'll be easy enough for me to order more plates later if I choose.

Placed my order on May 24th, no word yet. I just hope it's delivered by June 24th. Has anyone in the US waited longer than 4 weeks after ordering?
