george1906, would you mind posting some close up shots of the E and F plates with a blade installed so we can see the blade gaps? Thanks for the reviews and everything so far.

I would really like to get one of these razors for my wife. I know she would love the looks and feel of the brass. Right now she is using a '58 Red Tip and loves it, so I'm thinking right off the 3" handle should be right. What base plate would best approximate the Red Tip?

The Red Tip is a .73mm if I’m not mistaken and so is the B plate at 0.73mm.
She will be amazed with the build quality and the threading on this razor which is phenomenal.

JWK1 I bought one for my wife with B-D plates and a 4 inch handle, She liked the D plate, I use the D plate in mine and I would say C or D may be close to a red tip, its hard to compare due to the fact TTOs have a different feel than 3 piece razors for me

Oh, I didn't realize the gap on the red tip was that large. It's been a long time since I've used (my wife took it) one.

Sounds like I should get a C and D plate. I'm counting on the smoothness of the Karve. Thanks, guys!

Let's not make too much about comparing gaps between different razors, it's less important than exposure.

I don’t know how well these pics turned out but here they are with blades in them. Starting with the D plate, then E plate and finally, [Image: 0ca17800e9c182a76b5cccda6daac9f6.jpg][Image: b2aa1f9f4dc8ecd11b958b2e451e9e23.jpg][Image: 968542f37cf085c847973445f2e67bc4.jpg][Image: cbf4e062538f359f9d755ad10c918f7d.jpg][Image: fcd06ad1ccf5067ec7033ad0b8f126a2.jpg][Image: e2c4e860063debf40051f64c5b0cdb70.jpg][Image: c9a54e014813e05bbafcbedf026afb9b.jpg]the F plate.

Posted the second pic of the E plate twice. I can’t see the difference but can truly feel the difference in the shave.
