My opinion - best finish on a razor.

I'm thinking rhodium is the best finish also, maybe for different reasons. I just love white metals. I got the 24k gold one which is beautifully done by Razor Emporium , but I am just captivated by the rhodium personally. And sterling. Metals like that when it comes to more jewelry like finishes.

It’s harder than nickel or gold and it’s whiter than nickel while being less likely to have an allergy than nickel (gold is best for allergies but also the softest).

It’s the best of all things.

Ok, this is good to know. Most, or at least a lot of, guitar hardware is nickel or chrome plated. I'm thinking I like chrome better, but nickel is more durable?

Nickel is not more durable than rhodium and rhodium is preferred for jewelry as a nickel allergy is much more likely with skin contact.  It’s just expensive now so some aren’t doing it (like black roads gold) but his post is old on it, he says that the spot price of rhodium is 20K+ and it was.  But it has come back to earth as not everyone is buying an electric car.

See the price history per oz over time (as of June 2024).

Yeah, I follow metal prices. Not so much rhodium but it had definitely spiked. I meant if nickel was more durable than chrome. I know some sterling jewelry is plate dwith rhodium to protect it form tarnish at least mine allegedly is. Haha.

From these guys it would appear as if the durability differences between chrome and electroless nickel plating aren't significant enough to matter for our application, based on the relatively gentle treatment a razor receives.

Who is doing good rhodium plating for razors? Black Roads Gold says they don't do it anymore. I have a brass overlander begging for some nickel or rhodium!

Razor Emporium does. I have one I bought second hand.
