I was recently gifted an iKon El Jefe razor and it has been my first experience with Artist Club type blades.  My friend sent along two Feather Pro blades to go along with the razor.  I went ahead and ordered a few KAI- Captain Titan Mild blades.  I first used one of the Feather Pro blades and enjoyed everything about the razor, blade, and shave for a week.  Then, on Friday, I started with one of the KAI blades and my experience has been mostly miserable.  The shaves (there have been five) have been rough, I get weepers, and I'm just glad when the shave is over.  Ironically, the shaves are incredibly close, there is little to no post shave irritation, and my face stays BBS through most of the day.

My question is, taking out the obvious that this is just a dud blade (and where I am definitely leaning right now), is there anyone else (SharpSpine comes to mind, among others) who has seen that huge a difference between the Feather Pro and the KAI- Captain Titan Mild blades?  I know the El Jefe has an issue with seating the blade but I was very careful placing both blades and had no trouble with the Feather Pro.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Absolutely Freddy! I can't even complete a single stroke with those Kai Captain Titan Mild blades. They simply would not cut my stubble. Instead, it felt like my hair was being ripped out. I have no intentions of every putting my face through that again. I'm sorry to hear that they haven't worked for you either but I'm not sure if I should commend you for suffering through so many rough shaves.

At least I know I'm not alone, Brian. As for suffering through so many shaves, I thought the blade might mellow after a few uses but that didn't happen.  I definitely should have quit after the third shave.  Ironically, based on what you have posted in the past, your skin and hair type are quite different than mine and I don't usually have the problems that affect (or should I say afflict Sad) you.

interesting to read! I've only used feather AC blades in a loaner alumigoose and my own general that I have. my preference of the 3, I think (I need more time with the pro guard) is feather pro>feather pro guard> feather pro super...the pro super were absolutely horrible for me. incredibly harsh on my skin.

Freddy, how many of the KAI blades do you have left? I might be interested in buying a few off of you to try them.

Exactly my own experience. I use the feather supers in my general and the feather pros in my recently bought SE2---When I tried the Kai mild pinks, I got weepers--the feathers nothing----- both shaved close though but I can do without the weepers,so I will stick to the feathers.

I don't like the Kai Captain Mild either. I've tried several. Same thing. Irritation after the shave, sometimes the evening after shaving in the AM.

I do like Kai Captain, I guess they're Regular blades.

There's a difference. Ultimately they are still not as good for me as Feather Pro blades from the 2nd use to the 10th or so.

I don't have any Feather Pro Super blades but tried them in the past. Not for me.

I'm interested in the Japanese Schick artist club blades. I've read good reviews on them.

For now, I'm happy with Feather Pro. I have two packs and only use my SE razor on the weekends. That will last me a good while.

Interesting. I recently purchased the ATT SE2 and have been struggling. I have been using the Kai mild blades. I attributed my problems to the head. Never strongly considered the blade as the problem.

Perhaps I will try some feather blades. Any suggestions?

Mark, I found a noticeable difference between the KAI Milds and the Feather Pros.  Admittedly, those are the only two blades of this type that I have tried but I would say give a Feather Pro a try.  It worked for me.

Feather Pro blades are the artist club blades I consider the baseline. I figure I try those first for a while and can go up or down in aggression by using different blades.

I've never tried any of the guard blades. Always an option.

I have tried Feather Pro Super blades. Never really met a razor that I would think I needed them with.

Kai makes excellent DE blades. SE blades? Not so much.

I have stropped them. The Kai Mild blades. Not much difference that I could tell.
