Some love them, some hate them. I thought I loved the KAI Captain Blue blades for my Feather AC and AC-style razors but after using one today, I realize I don't. They have a very strange tendency to almost cause a pinching sensation, and today's blade, which was fresh, sort of died on me during the shave. I do love the Kai pro guards, i think they're called MG, and I remember liking the Kai Captain Mild but I haven't used them in years.

So, knowing that one man's perfect blade is the next man's busted whisky bottle, I'm curious about your experiences with the KAI blades. I do like the KAI DE blades as well, and think they generally get high marks, but this thread is just about the SE blades.

Honestly, as much as I wanted to like the KAI Captain Titan Mild blades, they really didn't work well for me. Much prefer Feathers...in both SE and DE form.

Davin,

Thanks for this. I'm beginning to think that I prefer all things Feather to KAI's products, with the sole exception of KAI DE blades, which I prefer to Feathers, though I would not run out to buy a pack of the KAI DEs again. The KAI Captain blades, which I thought I liked in the Feather AC, are really kind of strange now that I'm getting to know them better, with a very rough feel. I love the Feather Pro in my SE and I love the Feather ProGuard and the KAI Protouch in my AC razors, though the fresh KAI Protouch I put in the other day feels like it might be a bad blade that has to be deposited in the blade bank.

I had at least 5-6 very great shaves of MG blades in alumigoose, blades were from ebay. And now i used 2 or 3 blades bought on G&C and they all gave me only 2 good shaves and on the third use they were tugging even on the first pass. Dont think the source of where you get them matters, but now i think schick proline can become my n1.

IMO, Kai and Feather blades, both AC-format SEs (unguarded) and DEs, are equal in performance. I like 'em both, but since Feathers are cheaper, I prefer them.

The KAI Mild AC blade for me was absolutely awful. Not smooth and lots of irritation during the shave. My AC single edge of choice is Schick Proline 30 from Japan. The Feather Pros are okay but overall I am not a fan of Feather blades, including the DEs.

I guess I’m alone on this one, I absolutely hate the Feather Pros in any Razor (I’ve tried them all). I finally got excellent results with the Kai Mild and as of late the Schick prolines. So im with Freddy on the Schicks out of Japan.

I use the Feather in my Mongoose and get a great shave.
