I hope they caught every one of the burglars! The folks evacuated have enough on their minds without this.

There's a reason that the SOP is that looters will be shot on sight. Nice story about the wedding though. Love triumphs over all. Smile

I didn't read the entire article, but yes, the bottom feeders walk among us and look like us. If they had forehead tattoos we'd be able to spot them, but I've never seen that. Though many times they can be spotted with a 6th sense. Trust that sense even when the dam isn't spilling over. If your hackles go up act on it. Oh, and get a massive safe.

I teach this stuff. For me it's always been common sense (I was a LEO for a time, but I'm an old fart and I've been around for awhile), but it's a revelation for many others in my (few) classes.

There are good folks who do good when other folks are watching, good folks who do good whether the light is on them or not (both are the sheep), and then there are the wolves. Oh, and there are sheepdogs who sometimes appear to the sheep (1st 2 categories) as wolves, but they are just sheepdogs trying to keep the majority of the sheep safe. In the USA the sheepdogs would be the police and the CCW permit holders who haven't yet been taught that they carry only for themselves and their loved ones and let the sheep fend for themselves. The smart ones just let the sheep fend for themselves and use their CCW for themselves and their loved ones. That's just the state of the nation today.

I could write more but, no. This is NOT the place for it.

I can think of one way of applying the tattoo.

I've been trying lately to focus on positive things and to look for examples of the best of human behaviour. There are lots of inspiring stories out there, however, the media seems hell bent on driving us down the sewer by sensationalizing every example of evil depravity out there. I know, it sells. We have to be aware of the dangers and take steps to protect ourselves and our loved ones but we also have to protect our mental health by cherishing the truly wonderful things in life. If you've not seen the movie, Life Is Beautiful, I recommend it. Its tough to watch but well worth it.

I remember many years ago when I was renting a basement suite in a part of town where it wasn't uncommon for there to be old sofas out on the front lawn. I came across a guy sprawled (passed out) out on one of these front lawn couches in the middle of the afternoon - he had a tattoo of the yin and yang circle in red and blue about 2" in diameter right in the middle of his forehead. He looked like the sort of guy who might loot.
